Thought it was pretty ironic how Lois talks about Oliver as an icon, and calls him "The Man of Tomorrow". Then she proceeds to say that she's just the girl who writes about it.

That was a pretty good mytho reference (but to Superman of course). Although we've heard the "Man Of Tomorrow" bit before.

Yeah, I thought was iconic, too. It was a good way to stick an anvil in there.

I also thought that the speech that Lois gave Oliver was sweet and full of great subtext... the girl who let Ollie go to "save the world" is going to end up married to the ultimate super-hero.

I think this kind of explains why Lois doesn't let Clark go, in the future - because, at some point, she'll understand that Clark needs her and that she's not just "the girl writing about him".... she'll realize that she's worth it. That's something that Lois hasn't figured out, yet. For all her fake arrogance and bravado, she still doesn't think very highly of herself where it counts.

ITA. And so did Clark in his reply to her. A lot of her speeches had subtext; she felt that both she and Oliver were weak and let each other down. Clark won't do the same and he'll show Lois just how strong she really is, and with him, she'll believe it.

Also, I love the parallel between Lois and the Man of Tomorrow and her line in Crimson, which she unfortunately doesn't remember, "I'm your future."

I don't feel bad about Lois saying it regarding Ollie; it was still nice hearing it. But hey, you're right! Thanks for reminding me that Clark did use that expression! :D

Agreed.
Lois has always made good references to Superman.

I thought it was a nice reference too.

And I like the way ED played Lois in those scenes too. It seemed like she had sorrow, yet she was ready to start looking forward.

Erica Durance is one of the best Lois Lanes I've seen.
Kate Bosworth was too cold. Margot Kidder was good, I'll admit, though somewhat overrated. There was just something about her I didn't always buy as Lois...
Teri Hatcher was way to whiney. No way I believed this woman could become a top reporter at the number one newspaper in the world.
Erica's Lois is strong and passionate, but compassionate as well. She's driven and has just enough arrogance. While I think the writers haven't done a stellar job with her story (how'd she get a job without any education?) I believe her as a character.

There was a Season 2 episode (can't remember which one, but was watching the season 2 dvd's recently) when Lana made a reference to Clark as the "man of tomorrow".

I believe the phrase "powers beyond those of mortal men" has been used in different seasons as well.

As far as I know, Superman was the only one who was called the "Man of Tomorrow"; but were you referring to the fact that Superman & Green Arrow both died & came back? The way I see it, though, Superman was really only "mostly dead", but Green Arrow was all dead & Hal Jordan as the Spectre brought him back. That's up for debate, I know, & since it's fiction, truth is whatever you make it.

----- Added 2 Minutes later -----

When Lois called Ollie "The Man of Tomorrow", I imagined Clark saying, "Wait a minute--I'm the man of tomorrow!"

I loved that line! Acually, that whole scene with Lois and Clark was my favorite part of the episode. Well, except maybe the end. But only cause Tess was so badass!

i really liked how she said the line, it was just part what she was trying to say not the whole thing- most of the superman references have a huge pause around them i just loved the delivery lois had some good ones
