Did anyone else tear up from that scene?

I thought Cassidy (the actress that plays Tess) did an excellent job acting tonight!

When she told Oliver that the girl they shot was her best friend and that when she had made her the bracelet she thought her friend was joking when she told her she'd wear it til the day she died. Then she frantically tried to get it off of her. I couldn't help it, my eyes started watering.

I didn't tear up but I really fell in love with the character in that scene. I hope they keep the slight vulnerability to her character. It makes her likable, yet at the same time she's bad.

I also thought she did a great job acting. She's got that Lex thing going for her now. I love her at times, and then I hate her at times.

I did tear up. It was a well acted scene, and it definitely added another dimension to the Tess Mercer character.

I was blown away when the girl was blown away. A ruthless murderous gunshot to the head on commercial TV. All I could mutter was, "...man, that was brutal..."

oh dear..im kind of scared to post this now..but....I laughed when she said it. I was not impressed by the dialogue of the whole episode and I didn't think Tess's acting in that scene was all that great, :\ but i do think she does very well portraying the evil, Lex-Luthor, powerful woman. Plus the whole time i was trying to figure out if she was gay or not..lol...does that sound wrong? lol.

I like Cassidy, shes a good actress...i just didn't like the episode as a whole tonight.

no, I was wondering the same thing, especially because of her obvious closeness to her murdered girlfriend, and the fact that she is still wearing the bracelet, as though the girlfriend was her lover and soulmate.

I didn't tear up, but CF and the writer did a good job. :)

I was really taken aback as well, but after the cold assassinations of Lex's henchwoman Gina and Patricia Swann it isn't really something that new. Abrupt and unexpected, yes.

I didn't really see the slash aspect, don't swing that way. That was totally like something Lex in his younger years might have done before he got dark. Young Lex was conflicted, exactly like Tess; but eventually the villain's going to come out.

Wait a minute, was she wearing the bracelet during the whole episode? I thought she just put it on when she called Oliver to the Luthor mansion... woah, good eyes. Still though, I just thought she was upset because her best friend died. I don't know, it's never happened to me, but if my best friend died - and more than died, but was murdered point blank right before my eyes - I might want to find a way to commemorate her, too. Wearing the bracelet I gave her wouldn't seem like an out of the ordinary thing, I sure would not expect to give someone a reason to question my sexuality because of it.

Hmm... that's very interesting. Now that I think about it, I did give my friends one of those friendship necklaces, but I don't even wear mine anymore, LoL... *shrugs* What do I know, Tess Mercer is certainly not me - I think she may blur the lines around everything. She was acting kind of flirty the first time she met Lois, but then again she seems to have had a fling with Oliver, and it seems as though she is irrevocably loyal to Lex. Or maybe the bracelet just symbolizes the whole experience for her, makes her strong - she did tell the man who captured her that she learned how to fight back from him...Mercer is definitely interesting, because she's so ambiguous.

Actually she said to the man who had captured her, "you were one of the men in my life that taught me how to fight back." So apparently she hasn't had such great relationships with men.

I agree, I think she "blurs the lines" as well.... .

You're right, I guess I was in a hurry when I wrote what she said.... oops :o
Her relationships in general seem to have been pretty difficult, it seems. Wasn't she orphaned at a young age?

i don't know about that, but I do know that she told Bet, that she remembers how she felt when she was her age; "alone, angry, ...trapped....."
