I've been trying to avoid spoilers this season, but I did see the Brainiac effected Chloe theory on the forums and I thought it was spot on.

So here I am thinking this is supposed to be some big shocking moment when it's revealed why she's changing and then it was just kind of *makes tooting noise* LOL.

First of all, I don't even remember Chloe ever mentioning to Clark that Brainiac tried to get into her brain (although I could be wrong). Also Clark jumped to the right conclusions WAYYYY to quickly for my liking.

Chloe's always been ridiculously smart, especially in the last couple of seasons (it's unrealistic already). Suddenly Clark notices something by himself (shocking on it's own :rotfl:) but he instantly makes the connection that Brainiac did something to her.

I was hoping that Chloe wasn't even aware of why she was like that, let alone Clark.

There should have been more of a steady realization of what was happening to her in my opinion. It seemed like a potentially shocking twist that was poopood on by happening way too fast.

Anyone else think so, or am I just crazy?

Otherwise I liked the episode

I agree a bit...I thought it was strange clark instantly made that connection. But then again...I love that he was able to do that. Good for him!! :)

I dont think it's really the "big reveal." They have no idea that Chloe will be taken over by brainiac....she's looking at is as: "Oh...he left me a little present when he left....oh well, no harm done." I think Clark is a bit worried....but not terribly.

So I'm not really let down....because I never thought clark would say "Chloe...you are very intelligent.....Brainiac must be taking over your body...." That would have been way too big of a leap. I'm just excited for them to slowly discover just how big of an impact brainiac really made on her. :)

Good point.

Although I couldn't help but laugh when Clark said something like "Chloe!! You're getting smarter!!"

LOL

it sounded a little silly XD

:rotfl:. Yea it did! Then the way Clark was just staring at her as she rambled off these long lists of facts and statistics.

Props to AM, that must have been an incredibly difficult scene to shoot!!

I wasn't surprised at all. In all the show, there have only been a few individuals with the ability to process information at lightning-speeds.. and, I could be wrong, but every one of those individuals have been destroyed except for Kryptonian(s) and Brainiac.. Naturally, Chloe isn't Kryptonian so that leaves Option B: Brainiac. Brainiac attacked Chloe. Mystery solved.

My real surprise came/is going to come when Chloe realizes that she has genuine potential to hurt Clark, or rather for Brainiac to hurt Clark through her.. and do nothing to stop it. True, a self-inflicted fatal wound would be extremely dark and probably unwanted by the fans... but isn't she the one who said she'd do anything for Clark excluding killing?

Furthermore, if she knows whats happening and knows that delaying a problem like Brainiac instead of confronting it head on is going to be a problem, why not take care of it? Did she learn absolutely nothing from Clark's extremely poor handling of the whole Brainiac-and-crystals-to-control-him thing?

Well I thought Clark was jumping to conclusions about brainiac well before she was even super-reading the computers. She had just started showing him the info on the flower (she WAS talking fast, but I would have been amazed not alarmed), and then he was like O___________O CHLOE!! YOU'RE GETTING SMARTER D:!!! *freaks out*

lmao

idk, it just seemed odd to me.

I was thinking the same thing! Those must have been difficult lines to memorize and spit out in rapidly like that.

in the season 7 finale clark visits chloe at the hospital...when she opens her eyes they were gray like lana's. he goes after brainiac after that

----- Added 1 Minutes later -----

i guess Clark just made an assumption that Brainiac's control over Chloe did something to her

I was kind of proud of the way they DIDN'T try to make it a big reveal. I thought it was pretty obvious in Odyssey that the new power had something to do with Brainiac. That Clark put it together from her speech about what's wrong with Ollie and observing the way she was accessing the database just proves he's not just a BDA.

The only question in my mind is whether Brainiac triggered a latent ability of Chloe when he attacked her in Arctic or if he's really lurking in her brain. At first I thought the former, now the latter.

I love that Clark made the connection and that Chloe basically ignored him, refused to let him guilt trip or to worry about it. She basically dealt with it on her own apparently and sees it as a gift. I enjoyed the scene. It's something fresh and new between characters I've watched for 8 seasons... so... I liked it. I hope the writers don't leave it there. I'm thinking that Clark is right to be worried and Chloe is wrong to be dismissive.

Yes, Clark was aware that Brainiac had a hand in putting Chloe in the hospital. TPTB often mess up, but they didn't pull that connection out of thin air, Clark did have a clue (perhaps for once).

I did love how Clark, as usual, wants to "cure" the power that any earthling ends up with, and Chloe shoots him down, understanding to a point what's happened to her, and just accepting it as a gift for the moment. (paraphrase) "WE'LL DEAL WITH IT LATER!!!" if anything amiss happens due to her intellect. Chloe rocks ;)

I don't think it was that unbelievable. Chloe's always been smart, but since when can she spit out facts that rapidly, and then process all those images at lightening speed?
