I've complained in the Spoilers forum about this, but...

I rather dislike the new Metropolis set. It does not look like a city, the "buildings" are really small, the lighting is just not realistic, and that damn movie theater is tinier than the Talon. This is METROPOLIS, folks.

Worse yet, everything happens right at this intersection, in front of the Metro Theater. It's so, so, so contrived.

1. Clark meets the JL here (Odyssey)
2. A bus blows up here (Plastique)
3. Davis wakes up here (Plastique)
4. Tess is attacked here (Toxic)
5. The cab picks up the bad guy here (Toxic)
6. Maxima flips Lois' car here (Instinct)
7. Lois and Jimmy are mugged here (Identity)

Man, no one must go to the Metro because the front door is the site of so much violence. That, or the contrivance of having every event in Metropolis take place right here is too stupid. I'm really trying not to whine, but it just makes our show look and feel so cheap. It completely takes me out of the scene.

I thought Davis woke up in an alley in front of some shops! And Tess was not attacked by the theatre was she?
But your're right, the theatre seems to pop up everywhere like an overzealous extra.

Well they probably built these metropolis sets so they didnt have to travel downtown much this year and keep it at the studio more. We know the budget has been a big problem with the show last few years,

I know. This is exactly why they built the set this year. It just sucks. I hope Clark and Doomsday aren't forced to fight in this tiny little place. That would be so lame. For the love of God, please just let them fight in front of the REAL Marine Building and whatever building LuthorCorp is.

'Course we will. This is Smallville after all. It's just people have been complaining about him being on the farm so long that the producers want to mix it up!

I kind of like the Metropolis set. It's like the new Main street. I think so much happens there because it's a DP and Luthorcopr Plaza street corner. My only complaint is that it's too dark, like something from Gotham or something.

The Metropolis set is great as I have stated before in other threads. I don't like big cities and the smaller size is more to my liking. I just wonder how many times we saw the Talon, the loft, Kent farm, the mansion, Luthor Corp offices, and the Daily Planet over the years. I didn't get tired of seeing those places. The Metropolis set is where a lot of action is going to be so hopefully people will accept it in time. I'm inclined to think it is not a main street but a secondary street and it wouldn't be as large. I'm glad the actors have a set so they don't have to go away from the studio area.

I like it. It looks nice.

And not every part of the big city has huge skyscrapers. ;)

This reminds me of L&C Metropolis. It was basically the same two set streets. :p
