Man, I finally pinned down why the show hasn't felt like Smallville for the past two weeks.

We haven't seen the farm once since the barn scene in Odyssey, nor have we seen the THRJ! These things are staples, people!

I do really miss the barn, though. It's so odd that we don't even get to see Clark at home anymore. It's sad. I bet Shelby is licking at his empty food bowl and is really, really lonely. :(

Thrj?

I'm assuming that's a referral to the red jacket? I could live without that one, anyway.

Its interesting. The title Smallville is still justified because Clark will carry the values he learned on the farm throughout his life. And of course, there's Lois' nickname for him too. But I miss that yellow farm house, the shots of the flowers, the fields, the cows. Couldn't they fit in a reference to Martha somewhere?

I agree with this entire post. Even though I can see a justification for the title remaining "Smallville." There's just something about that small town charm... and the farmhouse... that I miss.

No, but my reason is most probably different than yours.

Do I miss the red jacket? HA! THATS FUNNY!.. I mean, er, 'no'.

The barn? I guess, but it doesn't really make sense for him to speed back and forth just so he can brood. :p

No please no more red jackets!

Tom looks sooooo good in suits and I guess we all understood by now, that he's superman-to-be, so we don't need the "hint" with those jackets and primary colours anymore.

Oh, I forgot to mention the farm: well, as he has superspeed it's definetly no problem for him to stay on the farm at night and come to work in Metropolis during the days.......

Lois would start to ask questions if he is superspeeding in everyday.

Why? How would she know that? I mean, he must sleep somewhere, mustn't he? So why should she bother to ask where he's going after work. She maybe thinks he's staying somewhere in Metropolis.

Nah if you work accross a desk from them and are a kinda friend youll know where they live. After that she shall be wondering what sort of transport does he take that allows him to be in so early.

Maybe im thinking too much into this but wouldnt she then think if he has no transport he must be staying at someones house during his working days. I dunno maybe a certain blond bombshell....

Actually they didn't give us any clue where Clark is staying at the moment - in Smallville or in Metropolis.

I guess that's not so important for TPTB?

Or maybe he and Chloe are more friendly than previously thought, maybe... Nah your probably right lol!

I am very glad to see Clark not wearing the Red jacket. I thought Al & Miles really over did it by making Clark wear nothing but red , blue, and yellow for years. I liked it much better in the Pilot episode when Clark actually dressed like a farm boy… But I am glad to see that by Season 8, Welling is now dressing more like the classic Clark Kent the reporter that we all know. It shows he's getting closer to becoming Superman.

As for the barn, I think at this point Clark should move to Metropolis. But they just need to introduce Ben Hubbard first, and explain that he’ll take good care of the farm….. And as I’ve said 100 times before, Jeff East is the perfect actor to play Ben Hubbard.

If they had Chloe commuting from the apartment over the Talon in Smallville to the Daily Planet for two years, why does Clark need to move out of the Kent Farm?

I belive that Lois is still commuting from the apartment over the Talon. So if she can make the trip daily, she should not have any reason to wonder at his commute. I am just waiting until she tries to bumm a ride.:D

I've been wondering if they plan to explain the farm. Is it abandoned? Does Clark streak there and do chores every day? Did they sell it? Is Shelby running the place? At least some mention of the tried and true Kent farm would seem appropriate....or was I too caught up drooling over Chloe? :D

I miss all of the exterior shots around the farm...and when was the last time that they actually filmed a scene in downtown Cloverdale?? I haven't seen any shots from outside the Talon in a long time...it must be 2 or 3 seasons now!! :(

i was gonna make a new thread called 'smallville' lol I was wondering if they're ever going to show smallville again. It's like what, the second episode in a row that hasn't shown smallville now?

should make a thread for each episode like 'where the hell is shelby?' hehe

yeah exactly, Chloe's still staying in that apartment, so why shouldn't Clark still stay at the farm?

The premiere gave me the impression he sold it or got someone else to run it. At least that's what sounded like when he said he needed to move on and put the past behind him. I don't remember exactly how he put it but that was the gist of it.

I am actually ok with the lack of barn scene or farm scenes. Clark is now centered more in metropolis and there is no one left at the farm anymore. we've moved away from it abit to center his metropolis life and now with him at the daily planet, the superman vibe is becoming more prominant now, cuz hey he's a reporter... here we go!!
