What's the bigger question is why wasn't Meredith affected by the lack of oxygen? Does her pyrokinesis come with a no breathing power?

Meredith is probably not affected by smoke or lack of oxygen. So long as there is oxygen for her to create flame, she can probably stand it better than a nonpyro.

If HRG is to be believed from Season One, Meredith did survive being inside of her house while it was burning down around her, so she probably has some experience with smoke inhalation and lack of oxygen.

I'm not a fan of Claire's mom but she is clever in the way she can take care of herself. But her power is more in your face than Claire's power so it's easier for her to learn to protect herself.

I think that Claire's mom can tolerate low oxygen and smoke due to her power. She can probably also withstand a level of burning and heat too.

I'm still wondering what the whole backstory was with the house burning down. Was it a deal she made with the Company or a diversion. What kinda mom burns down the house and leaves her kid? Was it an accident? Just saying.... she doesn't seem to have any regrets.

^ yeah I always thought her Mommy was a bad lady. especially when she lied about Nathan not wanting to meet her and the money. I thought she was the one who burned down the house, it's kind of obvious.

I thought that scene in the container (same one that took Peter to Ireland? lol) was very powerful. Great acting by Hayden Panettiere.

I also thought she's the one that burnt the house down, I'd just like to know the reasoning behind it. Did Ma Petrelli pay her off to do it so she could keep the child away from Nathan because he was in the spotlight? So many different variables that I think are worth exploring. Well, worth exploring so we can learn more about the character.

I do wonder....if Claire stopped thinking she had to breath, if she would die? I mean they buried Adam and it looks like he's fine...... Maybe it's all in her mind and if she concentrated she could simply not breath....

She said she can't fell pain, yet her hands burned when she touched the walls and it hurt her throat that she was inhaling fumes. I guess her mom can breathe with no air around and fire, which needs air to survive, creates air for her.
