I'm exaggerating but it sure seemed like there were more commercial breaks and it really affected the flow imho. I know CW is on the ropes but there has to be a limit before they harm the product.

I thought the breaks seemed longer. Glad I wasn't the only who noticed.

Damn, that's not very long at all. A little more then a half hour? Damn when I was watching I thought it was at least 40 mins.

By comparison, most eps in Seasons 1 & 2 were 42-44 minutes.

Check the time on iTunes. That will include the teaser and titles, but it's a fair comparison. Besides, I don't know about your local station, but I've noticed more variety in the commercials. That tells me that more businesses see a reason to invest in SV viewers. That's a good thing for the network.

I pray to the DVR gods and to reward my faithful homage, they let me skip the dreaded commercials. I agree though, they are squeezing more in. I know because my button-finger is more tired than last season.

I think there were more breaks...but the commercials were actually shorter. So, instead of...I dont know, 3 commercial breaks...there were 4 or 5, and they were shorter.

I'd rather have Product PLacement (admittedly much less cheezily done than Yaris, Stride, etc) than so many commercial breaks. Have Clark Drink a coke or something. Have Davis Use Clearasil to clear up those breakouts he was having on his forehead at the end of the episode. Something like that.

The commercials definately seemed longer to me, bu maybe that's because I'm become so positively obsessed with every second of the show. They can't possibly be longer because all in all, it's still 1 hour. But it annoys me. Maybe they are simply more often.

How Much?

If you're referring to the price of it on iTunes it's $1.99. :)

I bought some DVD sets of TV shows from the 60's and 70's a while ago. A sci-fi show from the 60's had 30 episodes, with each episode being 52 min. long. A detective show from the 70's had 26 episodes per season, with an average length of 48 min. per episode. Smallville airs only 22 episodes per season, with each episode around 42 minutes, and as some other posters have noted, once you account for credits and recaps from previous episodes, there is often less than 40 minutes of new material per episode. Every year, we get more commercials and less program.
