did clark and chloe call the cops/bell reve on bette?, I have to rewatch it, but what was their speech about in the torch? and I remember them saying that a couple of years in bell reve would not help her, so what gives, they knowingly handed her over to them?, I am confused

They i think called the cops and the cops then though belle reve would be the proper place to put her. I was thinking clark was going to call ollie up and have him take bette.

I don't think sellout is the right word. But I did think it was a little weird that Clark would think that Belle Reve would be beneficial for Bette. Although, perhaps he thought that things would have been better since Lex was gone and not taking people for his experiments. Who knows.

Bette wasn't stuck in Belle Reve for 3 years; she was imprisoned at that 33.1 site in Montana. Chloe & Clark likely arranged for her to be placed in Belle Reve, but Tess then (presumably) recruited her for Lex's army.

I don't exactly know if I'd call it selling out. I mean, Bette did say she'd rather be in Belle Reeve than with Tess - although, Ms. Mercer being very convincing and all, may have convinced Bette to go an meet this "special" group of people.

All I'm saying is, Bette does have some choices... and as far as I know, Tommy is the only one who really sold Bette out.

Well its kind of a sticky situation. Clark wants to help her, he knows she's just a confused kid who has a dangerous power that she didn't ask for and has been experimented on because of it. However at the same time she did murder someone, and being the boyscout that he is Clark can't just let that go. So belle reeve was probably the only place for her in these circumstances, she wont go to jail and they could help her with her abilities. It's not the best situation, its just the best one available.

Thatīs the thing about superman, he doesnt let anyone get away with felonies, even if he likes that person, also Clark isnt letting personal feelings afect his moral compass he has to do whatīs right at least stick to the law which is what Superman has always done, he doesnt pass judgment he leaves that to the authorities, or else he would be a simple vigilante. Im glad Clark made that decision, it was a though one to make but a good one.

I agree with you Clark/Superman in the comic or other show.

My only problem is that in smallville Clark is not like that, he had show in the past ( Lana episode 7.07 wrath) that if he loves the person, he was willing to forget about the law.

I think the whole Lex found out about Clark and being trapped in Russia AND dying and being reborn thought him a lesson about responsibility. He died and came back as a better man which is why I understand they had to do the Clark dies and come back to life thing.

Let us agree never to mention that ladies name ever again.

On topic it was a tough decision but she did kill someone, blow up a bus and then was about to kill Chloe had it not been for Clark so you can understand his decision.

Right now, Bette is a danger to herself and society. She can't even be apprehended, put in jail and tried because she has the ability to cause explosions. I assume Belle Reeve had some way to control her ability that normal law enforcement does not.
