Totally agreed. I didn't like the whole Chimmy explanation to Clark, but her other scenes were fantastic. *agrees about the scenes being great with Bette*

Loved Chloe. wasnt too happy about her just blowing off reporting. I think its the powers way of getting us that were upset that she wasnt a reporter anymore way of trying to pacify us LOL.. but she was amazing. Loved the save clark did!!

There hasn't yet been created a female character on Smallville that is Chloe's equal and I don't think that they will in this the final season. Such a super person and of course, ClarkMan's embrace and expression shows that he knows it.

Yes, I do like this Chloe more than superchloe. She's so adorable when she isn't working.

I agree. The bond that Chloe formed with Bette was so real and touching. It was unexpected. Great writing and development for Chloe in the episode. Her transition into helping Meteor enhanced people was great.

I completely agree with you, ginnyfan. Ever since she became meteor-enhanced, she has had that wonderful quality of sympathy for other "meteor people," and after spending so many years against them, the transition of her character from early seasons to the past few is a big one. Allison does a great job portraying this character and making that transition believable.

But how much of Chloe is the real Chloe? Clearly, she cares a great deal for Clark and he for her. Too bad it's not ever meant to be. Tonight's Chloe did seem very empathetic.

ClarkMan's embrace and expression shows that he knows it.
I don't think Chloe is quite herself right now.
I felt sorry for Clark. I think her engagement announcement punctuated how alone he is right now. Especially after she made it clear to him that their relationship is gonna be very different after she marries. Chloe's face showed so much ambivalence I thought. She still loves him. The expression on her face right after she confirmed her engagement to Clark and they hugged spoke volumes. :(

Wouldn't Clark share his secret with Jimmy if she gets married to him? If he's going to be Chloe's husband, then I would think Clark would trust him (especially after Jimmy never betrayed him or Chloe).

I noticed that Chloe had her spunk back this episode. I haven't seen it for a while with her always being shown as a super hacker and Clark crutch who was shown to be completely dedicated to him. I like how both she & Clark are more independent this season so far. Chloe not worshipping Clark & Clark not depending on her so much will strengthen both characters and make them have more respect for one another. So far, I'm very happy with the way both characters are being developed this season.

No, I don't think Clark would share his secret with Jimmy. He knows how quickly Jimmy caved to Lex. Jimmy may be a nice kid, but a kid doesn't need to have Clark's secret on the tip of his tongue.

I enjoyed Chloe's scenes. She smiled a lot more in Plastique than I can remember having seen her smile in quite a while in one entire episode. It was nice to see!

I thought they were both rather ambivalent. The camera lingered on their facial expressions as they embraced one another indicates that neither of them are happy with the enagement and a change in their relationship.

^^The "Davis" Effect! Yes! My sentiments, exactly! All that cheesing was for him, was it not?:D

Uh. No. I'm gonna say that the "Davis effect" is that Chloe looked more than ready, willing, and able to rip off his clothes with her teeth right there on the table. And THAT I cannot recall seeing from her at ALL in the past. Day-um. All I'm saying. Talk about a girl who looked like she wouldn't kick that man out of bed unless he said he was better on the floor!
This can be the "Davis...glow." Wait, that sounds like "afterglow" like one would have after sex.
The...er..."Davis..." Yeah, I've got nothing here that doesn't sound dirty. Or make me think it should be dirty. ;)

Stop talking.
I would love to see Chloe in a heated scene with another man. But not Jimmy... he's too pale and dry, and funny looking. I wouldn't want to see her with Davis either, way too hairy and his face kind of annoys me. They should have elaborated more on hers and Lana's pseudo lesbian scene. Yeah.

Yeah. The smile definitely reminded me of the days when she, Pete & Clark used to always hang out. Plus she had that different dialog (totally unrelated to Clark's secret or having to pull off some kind of pep talk to motivate Clark or do research for him) that made it pleasant to watch her again.

I totally agree. It's probably the first episode I've seen in a long time that reminded me why I used to love the character so much. It's definitely the first episode I've seen in a long time where I remembered Chloe's part in it several days later - as opposed to just the general role she had in it ("oh, I think she...might have...Googled something?")
She was adorable in this episode. And, like you, it was nice to see her have dialogue that went outside the box. Definitely enjoyable to watch.
If they keep writing Chloe like this, I may actually love her again by the end of the season.

Same here. The suggestion I made for the last several seasons that by fixing Clark, everything else will fall in place seems to be true so far. It just shows how much can be improved by just improving the central character. That frees up Chloe to not have to be in dumb scenes with those pep talks or the ridiculous hacking and instead be in those great, realistic type scenes she used to be in. And this season, the hacking would actually be explained given how he has Brainiac's logic/programming, though I would still rather not see that being overdone.

You know, I was worried that tptb wouldn't know what to do with Chloe. But now that she's not stuck playing sidekick she got to have the major relationships with both the Meteor Person of the Week AND Davis, the new male cast member. So it was exciting to see Chloe free to do that while Clark did other things.
I loved the Chloe/Davis scenes. I certainly saw Chloe as being more of an innocent in the situation than most Chlovis fans do. LOL! But the chemistry was wonderful. The best thing about it was that is wasn't just "Oh he's HOT." Chloe found herself opening up to him without even trying. That's what appeals to me most. (I actually thought the table thing was pretty contrived. Who changes a light bulb like that? Even the "turn on" moment was less funny because of the high heeled light bulb change.)
But even Davis was taken with Chloe's commitment to Bette and not just her loveliness OR the view of her curves in that pencil skirt. I liked that it was more than physical for the both of them. When Chloe defends her bubble gum machine ring, Davis is immediately on the same page as she is and threatens to kick the ass of those who say that it's corny. They are so in sync.
So yeah I really enjoyed the Davis aspect of the episode.
But Chloe's investment in Bette really surprised me and is really the heart of the episode on repeated viewings. I think Chloe really has a heart for the meteor enhanced people of Kansas. This is slightly revealed in the deleted scene from "Fierce." I like how they've continued it here. Chloe's desperation to get Bette into that home, not taking no for an answer. She really wanted to believe in Bette. Something deeper was going on for Chloe than just helping some orphan with powers.
I loved Bette holding Chloe's hand at the beginning and cooking grilled cheese. I wish... that things could have turned out differently.
Chloe was great! I'm excited to see what develops as the season goes on.

Yeah she was great! The only thing that kind of threw me off was where clark was like"I wish you were still at the DP" and chloe was like"uhh yeah i want to try something else..."
I mean I understand they have to make Lois the star reporter now and lead chloe away... but that felt a little too sudden to me...

She looked great too.
No, I disagree. A double cheeseburger looks great, She looked FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!! (anyone got screen caps of her from this ep?)
I loved where she was referred to as a "girl scout," too, after all, how many times has Clark been called a boy scout. I don't see it ever happening anymore, but man, they are just so perfect as a couple :)
And agreed, that we did not need to see Chloe with powers here. No healing, no hacking, just genuine compassion to help someone in need, even if the naive nature of that compassion nearly got her killed.

I like Chloe this season and the writing of her character. AM is a wonderful actress and I've alway thought that even though some Clana fans might not agree w/ me on that one.
