Smallville's Plastique! Did you guys enjoy smallville take on the dc villain/hero or not?
Mod Note: Take on the Character NOT the Episode.

I obviously haven't seen this episode yet, but I wanted to say that Smallville is big on sneaking in obscure DC characters! I definitely had never heard of Acrata (aka "Angel of Vengeance"), & Plastique is another new one. Maxima sounds familiar, but I didn't know anything about her. This season my DC Comics Encyclopedia is sure coming in handy!

judging form the trailer she seems a lot cooler than the one in jl unlimted. cuz i jl unlimtied they jsut made her a bomb expert but in this she actually can make bombs from her mind which is al ot better

Actually the angel of vengance character was based partially off the Acrata character from dc comics but smallville's take was totally different powers/background.

Just to add to superspider02's comment, Plastique also has super powers in the comics. At first, she starts out as an explosives expert and after getting caught all the time, she signs up for some experiment that makes her a walking bomb.

I guess that according to what she said to Chloe in the apartment, she is a meteor freak. And I guess Tess pretty much confirmed it at the end too.
But for the poll, I definitely loved her. The acting was perfect and I love how her story related exactly with Chloe.

She was a bit odd if you ask me, but her outfits were kinda cool!

Oh please. It was some of the lousiest acting I've seen since Subterranean. I found her unconvincing.

I liked her. They made her a meteor freak, but she was still an interesting character.
I think she's gonna come back.

I have no attachment to this character, so I was okay with her portrayal. I wasn't even aware of her until a few weeks ago. For those of you in the know, I'm a relative newcomer to comics. I've been collecting for a little over 4 months. I've read 52, in which Plastique played a minor role, but I have no memory of her appearance in that series, so I basically came to this episode with a clean slate. I'm voting "it was ok".

Okay, but sorry this is the wrong thread for this. The original poster indicated that this was about Smallville's take on the character of Plastique (Bette), rather than discussing the episode as a whole.

The character was annoying because she was supposed to be annoying. She kept people at arms length to not get close to them. And because she didn't trust no one. She was a street kid who'd been locked up for 3years being poked and praded. It character was realistic in a SV sort of way. I believe the actress did a hell of a job. And it will be interesting to see if SV brings the character back.

I don't remember her saying she was a meteor freak. She called herself a monster. When meteor freak was brought up she passed it on to the guy she blew up. Unless I'm missing something, I think there was an assumption she was because of her power. Just because she was at Black Creek, doesn't make her meteor infected. I could be wrong tho.

The first time I watched she was just annoying. She seemed very run of the mill freak but... the second time... the writing was good and things really fit together well beginning to end. I liked her. She was consistent in her character. I loved the childlike glimpses when she was with Chloe. I thought of Ryan when she cooked. I was a little angry that Chloe & Clark let her go to Belle Reve. I thought that place was where Luthorcorp shopped for freaks to experiment on. Anyway... I liked her. Great eye makeup too.

Yea they didnt really come out and say if she was krypto freak or a standard dc metahuman. As someone pointed out she only said the guy she blew up was a krypto freak.

I don't know about this episode, it was ok, the actress who was Plastique did an ok job, she was just to sweet, I was expecting her to be a little meaner of sassy or whatever

I have to agree there. I'm not going to lie, she bugged the hell out of me lol. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I'm sure Jessica is a wonderful young lady. But her acting can REALLY use some work. I found myself cringing a lot, especially the second time around watching her. The scene at the Talon after Clark saves Chloe was particularly brutal.
I think that's my only complaint in terms of this episode. I wish they would have casted another actress to play Bette. I loved everything else.

Im glad someone else mentioned it cuz her acting was like fingernails on a chalkboard. That stupid line "goodbye chloe" was pretty bad. This episode just made me think it was a freak of the week episode all over again...cuz it was.

I thought Plastique came across as a bit whiny (very 15 year old girl), a bit petulant and a bit ready to kick your ass if you cross her.
Which, if I remember her characterization from the comics (and it's been awhile), was pretty spot on. Except for the 15-year-old whiny part. Cause Plastique is older in the comics, of course.
But she's supposed to be a little bit evil. She is a villian (in the comics) after all.

This was a decent episode. I would consider this a "middle of the ground" episode.
