So what did you think of the girl flash-like character, speedster?
I thought it was friggin awesome.. I loved her and think she will be very cool. I loved the special effects and that Hiro can keep up with her using his power. Awesome!
What did anyone else think?

Agreed, she was awesome. I don't really like her hairstyle, but she seems like an awesome character regardless. Her acting is great too; she delivered that line about giving up his best friend perfectly IMO.

I also think she'll be cool. But another blonde!!!! I'm glad she at least has short hair!!! Sheesh........

She's got spirit and that's a good thing. I think that she would get along well with Hiro if she wasn't so bad for him lol.....

so far she seems interesting, but then again, I thought the new characters last season seemed interesting. Now, the only one I like is Elle, and she's not even a series regular anymore. Hopefully this one won't go the way of Maya and Monica.

Sooooo love her already! She seems like a very feisty interesting character , that is the type I'm bound to enjoy very much. Shes got that sarcastic in your face attitude that I love.. and the speed for some reason is perfect for that.. it excentuates (sp) it almost. I'm also thinking she will probably be a bit of a love interest for Hiro... He's so good with the ladies isn't he! Damn! First Charlie.. then that chicky from the past. But I hope this girl is a keeper.. she is really awesome.. and she has a super power! nice!

Is it just me or she supposed to look like something right out Japanese Anime?

She was rather annoying, like elle, I say they should both be killed off.

Cute, feisty, and a speedster... I'm sold. She's more of a gray character, though, than a hard-core villain, so I don't really see her as a nemesis to the "white hat" Hiro... hopefully, her "employer" can fill that role.

I like her.

But her being able to move during a timestop is just stupid.

Speed does not counter the total halt of the passage of time, sorry.

She did say that he must not be completely stopping time or she wouldn't be able to do that

I was going to say the same, but then I realizer Hiro must be slowing down time to a crawl, which would make her superspeed look like normal movement.

The special effects were brilliant, the IDEA of the character was great, the character herself was slightly annoying, and her hairstyle was horrid. If they were aiming at "stylish" I do believe they missed.

I'm not a huge Heroes fans, but I watched it last night and I thought she was the best part of the premier. Super speed is such an awesome power and it looks great on screen. I still think Heroes is a bit of a rip off of Smallville. Who would win in a race between her and Bart hehe?

Hiro didnt completly stop time, just slowed it down. I dont think he can freeze time yet, we all thought he could, but im sure eventually he will be able to, just not yet.

We thought he could because we couldnt tell the difference between extremaly slow and a complete stop, but now we know.

Exactly, its kinda cool to see that he has been just slowing it down to a crawl all this time, but it's been effective enough for him to do almost anything he needs to. I thought it was cool how she turned and looked at him, how are doing this? lol
What I didn't get is how she just happened to be around when he opened the safe for the formula like she knew he would do it right at that specific time. Too convenient.

yep that was too convenient, she turned and looked at him because her mind is just as fast as her if you know what i mean, its hard to explain.

Thanks for piecing that together guys. I was freaking out when I saw her move after Hiro stopped time. But reading what you all mentioned above, how Hiro only slowed time and her movement looked normal only because her super speed was slowed down, totally makes sense. Love the show. Can't wait till next week.

Hey, anyone have any idea how Nicky, or the former Nicky, now has some type of Freeze power?

it seems to me that Hiro must've initially stopped time when he saw her, because she was frozen while in super speed, which is why we saw the streak. Then apparently his control slipped a little or something, and time sped up a little, and she was able to move.

She reminds me BIG TIME of Ashley Scott (Helena/Huntress from Birds of Prey).

Won't comment on whether or not I like the character, will have to see a bit more of her.

However:
1. The initial red outfit
2. The stolen artifacts
3. Her attitude

All too young Bart from Smallville for me. May as well have had Hiro making a 'flash' or 'impulse' comment right amongst those Batman and Catwoman references.

Hopefully we see this character develop more, and hopefully differently from Bart.

I liked the character when she first appeared in the Heroes comic (issues 97-98), and think the actress has pulled off what I imagined her to be like in live-action.

I think that her power and Hiro's power isn't all that different and this is why Hiro can't stop her, but slow her down to normal speed. Just think about it. Air begins to act as a solid at the speeds she's traveling and she would literally burn up unless she's either invincible like superman or is able to warp spacetime around her in a much more limited fashion than Hiro can. Say only in her immediate vicinity about a few inches from her body. We already know if 2 characters can warp space/time they effectively nulify eachother's ability. That could also explain her "trail" in a believable fashion.....well for a comicbook like tv series anyway.

Oh and I like her character. It's about time they introduced a "speedster"

Agreed. Also because she's moving faster than the speed of sound, and yet is still able to talk- so some kind of time manipulation must be going on with her.

STFanatic
09-24-2008, 03:59 PM
That sounds plausible, Also, her speech would be as rapid as her movements and Hiro would only hear a buzzing sound. (Star Trek episode "Wlink of an eye (http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Wink_of_an_Eye_%28episode%29)" reference they missed)

Xanderman

Agreed, her power definitely has some connection to time/space manipulation/warping. It's more than just running very fast.

Yes, but why did the ribbon of air fade out all of a sudden? livewire86 suggested that Hiro may have actually stopped time and that then his control slipped to the point where they were both just moving quickly. Of course, even if that's true, I don't understand why she was frozen in that pose; if she was moving at Hiro's speed she should have been running at human speed, at least after he "slipped" in his control of time, if that's indeed what happened.

Or maybe I'm thinking about it too hard.

The way she just turned her eyes at him makes me think that all of that was under her control, that she was playfully messing with Hiro.

The superspeed after effect ribbon went away because after she put Hiro's lights out, time resumed normal speed.

Perhaps. That might be it, but how would she know he had slowed down time? It wouldn't be perceptible to her that he was also moving fast somewhere behind her; still, it's possible that she looked back as she was running and saw him coming, following her ribbon, so she waited like that on purpose. I'll work with that assumption, I guess, not knowing what else to think.

No, the ribbon disappeared well before that, during or right before their conversation. It suddenly fades out.

You are right. I wonder why they did that.

You are right. I wonder why they did that.

I THINK I KNOW WHY!!!

first off: im a huge flash fan, and smallvilel fan, but even i KNOW that Clar kwill be faster than Bart( since this is pre-pre crisis clark ,and PC Clark was able to cross universe in no time while sadly, Wally's top speed( fastest of flashes) was 10X light speed, in fastest moments before......anyway....

From analysis, and knowing how these powers work; there's only a limited # of things that could have happened::( She appears EXTREMeLY slower than Clark, but anyway..)

1. -likely- Hiro stop's time, follows her temporal"ghost/time/displacement/WHATEVER, don't know smallvilles name for it/ speedtrail" runs up to HER....STOP:: Now, she's frozen in time, and her trail is still there... he goes IN FRONT of HER, and STOP:: In her time, she's super speeding ,and possibly, her senses sensed an " Increased motion of some sort" to HEr RIGHT, so they nautrally sped up to that level, and hence, her speed trail dissapears in Hiro's plane, and her eyes move...and u know the rest..

2. -not likely scenario-something similar, except that she was AWARe of time affecting somehow and broke out of it( don't see this as real possiblitity, she'd have to NOTICE him passing her, then speed up to become relevant in his time)
3. Hiro DOES STOP TIME< not just SLOW it( hence the clock experiment earlier, FORWARDS, BACKWARDS, AND TOTAL STOPPAGE::
Now, -likely- He did stop tiem completly, then saw her trail, then rushed up( SOME1 ALREADY SAID THIS; so SORRY;, BUT I THINK YOU"RE 100% RIGHT) and lost his grip a bit as he went up to her( and her trail dissapeared, and he "slowed" down his speed to her level, prob UNCONSCISIOUSLY[ or strain of total stoppage vs slowing...easier on him to NOT move at speeds where tiem dilation is to the point it completly STOPS], and then she percieves it, ((Trail, THEN FIRST, she's stopped, THEN she moves eyes, then BREaks out of it))

4. Anything similar

i believe Hiro CAN stop time total, but, for every 1 out there who says t doesn'rt make sense that she's be able to counter thi,s you need to study thermodynamics and physics( i know , im too in depth, but i study this stuff)...... It's a effect called time dilation....the faster you go ,the slower time seems to you, to the poont of no time passing when you move( Smallville is a GOOD example, but DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON TIME DILATION AND SMALLVILLE , BEEN THERE,DONE THAT) so, TECHnically, daphne shoudl be able to speed at the point where things are frozen, like CLark... BUT ,she doesn't ;;;so it's CLOSe for her, or somehow she sill reaps the benefits of the phenomenom even without the abilitity t oamp it up that much...

We could consider HIRO's time powers to eb super speed......UGH, clock stoppers analogies....

FINAL Verdict: She should pull out her phone to speak with her superspeed attorney, realize her phone sucks, Then realizes in superspeed she SHould have gone with Sprint, while pulling out a piece of kyrptonite free/sugar free Stride Gum
