He's changing. Reminds me of "The Fly"...wonder if he'll physically mutate. Already has slimy scales and is losing some hair. Also is Maya...preggers? Will she have "hinderFly's" baby. LOL.

Def going the route of the Fly.

Randy made a good observation - what if Mo is turning into the monster on the cover of the 9th Wonders comic..... could explain the destruction of the city in the future?

Yeah, that was it's name. Some mythical monster that they keep tying into the series....

if it's right then Randy is a genius!

The Fly was my first inclination once I saw him mutating. Although as I mentioned in the live thread, Spider Man once mutated into a human spider, at least in the 90s cartoon. Oh I see it was also in the comics. Although this cover only shows him with the multiple arms and not the Spider face:

And didnt they show a snake a couple times? Maybe he isnt spider man.. he is.. um... Snake man? lol

seems to have webbed hands in that shot and when you factor the abilities he showed the fly or man spider seems to still be the most likely

The entire seen of him showing his abilities strongly, and I mean strongly reminded me of "The Fly", heck even the part where he noticed the transformation was almost the same (more extreme, but the same).

When Hiro went to the future, was that an explosion, or a Godzilla type creature tearing up Japan?

O_0 I can't believe they gave him powerz. (yes, I said powerz. With a z.)

...Trying not to go all fangirly over here, but OMG, I finally got to see him with no shirt. And I was not disappointed! Woot!!

Aaaanyway, I found it interesting that he's mutating. A little off the wall for a show like Heroes, IMO, but at least they're trying to keep things fresh and not repeat themselves.

:( Didn't like the whole idea to mess with Mya, though. I mean, it makes her look trashy. Last season she was into Sylar and now she's hopping into bed with Mohinder?
Can you say skanky much? (Though Sylar probably shouldn't really count, but she did kiss him.) What was the point? Was there even a point? "Hey, let's do this because we're a PG-13 type show!" TV show Writers. Uugggh.

It is not "trashy" for the guys to run around shirtless and ravenously jump the women, but if the women respond they are "trashy" ;)

Honestly, I thought Maya was much "hotter" looking than the new Nikki this season.

^No, no. I was good with it up until he "jumped her" for seemingly no reason.
Not just because she responded to it. (I almost thought nothing would happen, but he seemed a little too jazzed up for anything to not happen. Then when he said whatever it was about her body, I knew
it was going there.)

Besides, who said it was wrong for guys to run around shirtless? If they didn't, I would be bored. ^_^

Heheh. His chest was jiggly. LOL!!

If you watch the scene I think that Mo had some kinda sexual aroma on his side because he came on really strong and she just gave in and was sorta powerless to say the least.

Maya is trashy to me - just by the way she acts, how she dresses, and the overall character itself. Has nothing to do with her jumping Mo... or him jumping her.

I was shocked to see that but I also always thought Heroes was more of a tribute to the superheroes in comic books and most of the show gives slight nods to them. The future Peter travels back in time to kill Nathan so as to prevent the testing, persecution, and slaughtering of all the other powered humans is reminiscent of X-Men's Days of Future Past. Mohinder having spider-like abilities from a scientific experiment is reminiscent of not only Spider-man but maybe also The Fly depending on what that mutation does.

I like all these references and tributes so I say bring it on.

I was thinking cockroach was an option when Beaman called his abilities "Bug powers", because the cockroach has been such a constant image for the show.

But Lizard Mohinder is more punny, so I'm sticking with that theory for now.:)

The anti-milk ad..... drink milk and become a giant lizard or a roach... I don't think that I could stand him being a roach, it would be too funny (keep getting flashes of Beetlejuice when he's trying to get the girl to guess his name and there is a big roach in a chair that says 'hey, how ya doin' lol.......)

The urulu might be semi-believable if they keep it out of the direct sight or maybe he'll take some more of Claire's blood and heal himself and then vow to never mess with powers again or something cheesy like that..... or Maya could just kill him out of fear.

In addition to other thoughts on "The Fly", Mohinder really reminded me of Jeff Goldblum, in look and mannersisms. Particularly when he drank the milk; that reminded me of when Jeff's character unconciously kept adding sugar to his coffee.

LOL'ing but I wasn't really considering the 'character' when I made the above comment. Mine was purely a male admiring a gorgeous female rrreeoow....

But I agree with you on the character point of view, she is a bit of a whine, and I can't believe she just left the syrum with Mohinder without even trying to destroy it. She has soo much power, but doesn't use it properly...

hehe... behold the difference between men and women lol!!!

If someone is really hot physically but says stupid things and whines then it's a turnoff for me and it makes them unattractive. No matter how little they wear, how sweaty they are, the more stupid crap the fuglier they are to me.

Now that being said - there is a difference between being dumb and just saying stupiduselessfunnystuff, I love to laugh. I just hate stupid people. I also hate women that make other women look desperate, dumb, and skank... *cough*palin*cough* but we won't go there lol...

And I'm the first to admit that I also have dumb moments - I'm not talking about moments, I'm talking about the entire existence of a person.

Simone from the movie or am I missing the reference? Robert DeNiro? Just wondering because that is what is fresh on my mind with the name reference. They keep Maya on for diversity and because she's got a nice rack... oh and nice hair - that is about it. On mute she's actually very appealing. Except for that 'bambi' eyed face that she's always got. But Claire has that deer in the headlights look a lot too - much be the director.

ohhhhh right! My apologies I had the reference from that movie with DeNiro in my head because the movie was on the other day. I remember her. Didn't like her either. The only girl that I think is cool thus far is the flash chick because she's not whiney. Elle has possibilities but they need to give her character more screentime and better lines.

Oh and Ma Petrelli who is cool to me.

Theory:

Maybe there's a reason why Heroes powers develop the way they do, and reasons why regular humans don't.

My theory was that maybe he injected himself, the powers came, but his body wasn't built for them, so he started mutating, he body rejected it, didnt like the change, etc, maybe?

agreed that they didn't do justice to him, they rushed it, and possibly that he was more interesting before......

that being said - Mohinder has always been flawed - throughout all the seasons he kept wishing for a way to protect himself and as the seasons go on he's gotten more and more mad scientist in his thinking. Finally when presented with the opp to get powers so he can be what he wants to be and 'protect' himself - well he jumps without looking.

not the shinning hour for the character but to be honest I'm not surprised by his actions - I am surprised that he was able to develop a 'syrum' so quickly is all. It took him almost all season to develop a syrum cure for the 'virus' from last season [shrug]

And now that I think about it - if Mohinder's blood was the cure last season - if something else comes up Mohinder's blood is no longer pure and has now been tainted meaning that his blood no longer holds the answers. way to screw the pooch mo':\

Yes there were hissing sounds through out the scenes once Mohinder got his abilities (similar to the clock sound for Sylar), but its wasn't hissing of a snake, it was of a cockroach. You think it was the sound a roach would make? I heard numerous sounds...a cat like sounds, bat sounds, and reptile. They kept changing with each scene he was in and what he was doing. The cat-tiger sound was when he and Maya got it on.

To be honest, I've never heard a roach hiss before so I wouldn't know what that sounds like.

That bothers me a little, because on season one he was "my father this, my father that" ...always wanted to find an explanation to help the ones with powers
and show the world that her father wasnt' just a crazy doctor.

And also about Maya...I think that she's that whiney because someone always have take care of her aka her brother Alejandro. Until he was killed. So now, that role have it the closest person to her. In this case Mohinder

I dont really remember exactly what the hissing was.. but for some reason a cockroach never really even crossed my mind until now. I'm not sure if they were hinting at anything in particular or just doing randomness to screw us up. And the cockroach really doesnt describe the weird shedding.

Ya.. that is kind of stupid that he would just go and screw up the research and his blood that held so many answers just so he could have powers. I mean.. yes.. I understand you hate Sylar.. powers will help you fight him, but your not going to kill him powers or not! I mean.. Sylar has gotten ganged up on by all the heroes almost.. he's gotten stabbed and shot and sedated and nothing works! What makes Mohinder think just because he has powers now that he is going to make a difference?

And yes.. Mya is whiney and needs someone to take care of her. Like even after she had Alejandro.. she had Sylar.. though he was using her.. he did take care of her for a while. And now Mohinder. And though they do look hot together.. I really am not sure how i feel about this sudden rushed relationship.. I mean.. already they are f***ing? I guess Mya doesnt really wait. She did the same thing with Sylar.

Maya is one horny b*tch. I mean at least Jessica/Tracy/Niki/Gia, etc..etc..etc..use sex to get what they want or need-like money or power. Maya's just a plain nympho. And that her blood somehow can be mixed in non-heroes blood so they can have powers is just BS. Now, Mohinders' blood is tainted which contain the only cure that has affected many people with powers in S2 which the story lines remain open. Then now, he's cockroach man and him getting it on with Horny-MayaTM concur the idea he is a cock-roach.;)

I could have done without the sex scene. I would have rather had that time progress his character as the White House Official Scientist instead of the Dr. Jekyll/Mr Hyde. Maybe, they'll salvage or redeem his character by killing Maya.

The whole Mohinder & Maya scenes in the apartment is a complete homage (ripped off?) of the scenes between Seth Brundle & Veronica Quaife apartment scenes in The Fly, not Spiderman althought his climbing the wall does look like Rami's Spiderman scene.

Mohinder becoming narassic and inflated with ego as a crazy scientist who seemingly discovered some kind of philosopher's stone - similar take with Brundle and his transformation into some kind of super-freak. Mohinder's hanging on the ceiling, jumping down to meet Maya ,climbing the wall, making love, waking up and seeing yucky transformation in the mirror are all almost exact copy of Brundle's scenes in The Fly. I should know because I was really old enough to see the Fly in the cinema in '86 and have since seen it so many times. It therefore means that Mohinder is likely to transform into a monster, just as Brundle did near the end of the film. But what kind of monster?

I thought that Ms. Almost Puritanical South American Catholic Girl suddenly deciding to have sex with Mohinder was another manifestation of his new animalistic abilities- some kind of pheremones.

yeah! Seriously,I thought so that too. I mean, poor Maya , everybody is telling that's she an easy girl but I think that Mohinder new power(s) had to do a lot with that. Well, that was the impression I got.

Ya.. that is kind of stupid that he would just go and screw up the research and his blood that held so many answers just so he could have powers. I mean..

I think that it'd have been easily to find the cure for Sylar, you know? something that could have taken out his powers. I guess that after all, Mohinder wanted to be special too, like Sylar always is saying he wanted himself.

The entire seen of him showing his abilities strongly, and I mean strongly reminded me of "The Fly", heck even the part where he noticed the transformation was almost the same (more extreme, but the same).

Absolutely. They pretty much stole.. sorry did a homage to the 1980 whatever remake of The Fly, I noticed this in:

1- The scene where the protagonist is crawling around on the walls and ceiling wearing only a pair of jeans, the love interest enters the apartment, whereupon he drops to the floor (in The Fly by this point he is too icky looking to subject the audience to a love scene but in an earlier scene he was doing some pretty extreme excercises and then he got busy - this one could be a mix of the two).

2- The first time he noticed a change was in the bathroom looking into the mirror. I think his fingernail came off or something.

3- He's a crazy scientist. Nuff said.

4- He's got black curly hair.

5- One is Indian one is an american Jew. Ok that last one doesn't work.

Even the Mohiner & Maya apartment has the same look & feel as Brundle's apartment in the fly. The atmospheric scenes & vibes in both films are so similar as well. A few screenshots:

exactly. That would have been a better way then trying to challenge Sylar. Thats just madness. Ya, I guess thats true. He is like Sylar in that way. But.. then again.. if i was around all those heroes.. I'd want a power too! lol

You are right. The reason why I made the Spiderman connection was because of the very Spiderman film-style wall crawling. I have only seen The Fly a couple of times, but I immediately noticed parallels to that as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they had Sendhil Ramamurthy watch clips from The Fly and Spiderman before shooting those scenes ;).

The thing I remember most about The Fly was the scenes you posted pictures of.

Now the question here is if they did that on purpose, because the similarities (yeah, ripped off?) to The Fly are SO obvious. Tim Kring could always say that it's a tribute or something like that
Thanks for the pics DonnerR :) In fact even the actors are very alike.

yeah, and the part when he gets into the machine.

OK, I feel old

I still think of the 1986 version of "The Fly" as a remake and a fairly new movie till I looked up the date it was released.
I still remember going to it with a date.

He's changing. Reminds me of "The Fly"...wonder if he'll physically mutate. Already has slimy scales and is losing some hair. Also is Maya...preggers? Will she have "hinderFly's" baby. LOL.

I know, I wasn't digging the whole Mohiner has abilitys like Spiderman deal but
it seems that he is mutating now and I wonder if he will turn
into something like the Beast in X-Men? What does everyone think?

I don't think the fly similarities were a rip off, or a tribute, but rather a clue, along with the milk and hissing.

I'm going off to watch the commentaries now, and there's no way they won't mention that scene, so we will see.

EDIT: (At Xanderman because I don't feel like making a new post right now). Well we can all see the extreme similarities, but do we know they're there specifically to honor the film, or to allude to it?

I think it was meant to be an obvious tribute/homage to The Fly. As the pics DonnerR posted above should make clear.
