We also have no evidence that Martians can shapeshift, either. It seems like that would have come up a couple times all ready (the Martian Manhunter has appeared in about 4 or 5 episodes).

do we count justice and doom as in continuity because in that martian manhunter transforms into his alien self. Also we know that the actor in static was not phil morris so there was a possible shape change. As well in Martian Manhunter's five episodes he's never needed to shapeshift rather than show clark a non threatening consistant form for him to recognise.

to martian manhunters fire is like what kryptonite does to superman; it kills them and drains there powers. if you have ever seen batman the new animated series at the end of season 4 i do believe they had a flash back to martian manhunter running into a building with his cop parnter. went the bad guy set the place on fire martian manhunter feel to his kness, his skin caught pale, and it appeared the he was hypnotized by the flame with a look of terror on his face. so martian wasnt lying to clark. when he pops up again he will more then likely have his powers restored.

heat from the sun is also why martian manhunters live on the darkside of mars.
