In the barn with MM & Clark. MM hands Clark his jacket & you hear the same music as in the end of Commencement but only different. I loved that

Yeah, I wish they had a music montage like last years Sober. I think thats what this episode really needed for a good closing.

I miss the good Ole' days when epis wer filled with awesome music.....I hope they bring that back soon:D
I'm all for no more lyrical music, if they keep making awesome Instrumental music.
Instrumental music define the season and changes the mood, I was hoping for newer themes but we got repetitive, don't get me wrong there are Great themes I actually loved them, but they still remind me of Season Seven, and The one thing I loved about season seven was the newest music that didn't have anything to do with season six.

I noticed just instrumental music, including the superman melody. But the scene I liked the most was the dying scene with the orchestra (mainly stringed instruments and a piano) in the background and finally Clarks last slowing heartbeats (in the flashback). That was quite moving and the music made the effect stronger.
However, I missed a lyrical song in this premiere, too. But to be honest I wouldn't know where to put one.

I absolutley loved the intrumental music when Chloe was trying to use her powers and they didnt work and then during Clark's flashback. Then the music got all dramatic when MM came, and it was just perfect!

I liked the score throughout the premier to but I do miss a lyrical song. That has made the mood on so many episodes. There just really wasn't a long enough scene were it would fit at the end because the end was pieced together really quickly from the JLA meeting to the Lois and Clark scene at the DP.
I hope they do keep lyrical songs in later eppy's because that's what also made this show a popular contemporary "drama". Eppy 4-5 run is one of my fav's if not my fav and I love the Rascal Flatts at the end. It was just a good choice and set the mood and that scene very well. Songs have always been apart of SV and they always had great selections.

i think the lack of music had a lot to do with why the episode felt a bit 'soap like' to me... i mean the scene where ollie and clark fight could easily have had a song to it... as well as the chimmy scene, or even the justic league's first scene... seemed a bit odd them not being there
anyone know of a reason?

The score that Mark Snow has produced over the last 8 years has been nothing short of sensational! Brilliant.
