Early as in our new definition of "Early" - Seasons 1 and 2 (with Middle = 3, 4 and 5, and Late = 6 and 7)?
Thinking...
----- Added 9 Minutes later -----
I think I may have it. Is it Craving? The "jaw-dropping" action is when Jodi Melville became megamouth and chowed down on the deer that she hit with her car. The explosive effects were when the Melville greenhouse blew up, and Clark's creative side was his birthday present to Lana - the Loony Tunes drive-in recreation on the side of the barn (that she had told Clark about - a childhood memory that represented the last time she could remember feeling "completely safe").
Nicely done Skully.

Okey dokey. Try this one:
A nasty cut
Some more explosive effects (to borrow from CimH)
A classic save from Clark

Which episode?
Perry? The cut on Clark's hands from the rope when he saves Perry at the end. Saving Perry from falling to his death was "classic" since he didn't have his powers. The "explosive" part could have some connection to the solar flares that caused Clark's powers to go haywire.

im gonna say hydro
skully
06-27-2008, 07:34 PM
Not Perry. The cut is a little more nasty than a rope burn. And Clark's save is most definitely a powered lifesaver.
I can't guarantee there isn't more than one episode that fits, but I'm after one specific epi.

Commencement fits (I think). A "classic" save of that little boy when the meteor is bearing down on him. Plenty of explosions in that episode, including (but not limited to) the Kent house. And I think Lana had a nasty cut on her forehead following her crash in the helicopter. Or you could count the "cut" into Genevieve Teague's heart with the air element.
-M-
skully
06-27-2008, 07:43 PM
It fits Mark, but not the one I'm after. Again the cut is nastier than the one Lana sustained, but closer to the one Genevieve copped!! Clark saves an adult.

Not Trespass. Can't remember any significant explosion in that epi.

Tempest?
The truck explodes
Lionel is severely injured/cut in the tornado
Does Clark rushing into the tornado to save Lana count?
----- Added 2 Minutes later -----
No, no, no... nevermind that.
How about Skinwalker?
Kyla cut jumping through the window
The gas tank at the LuthorCorp development explodes
Clark saves Kyla when she falls in the cave
skully
06-27-2008, 09:03 PM
Skinwalker it is, MrsK. Clark dived over Kyla to save her from the falling boulder, which shattered on his back. That was when Kyla knew he was Naman.
A main character far from home
Something lost
Clark isn't the only one to save somebody

No, neither of those (Sacred or Crusade)- though they definitely fit the far from home clue.

Kara Saves Lois (by stopping her ship)
Kara is close, but not the episode I'm looking for. You have the right season though.

Kara in Washington
Kara still loses her Crystal
Lionel Saves them

And is an item (e.g. a ball, a person, a car, etc) actually physically caught by someone else, or is it some other interpretation of catch e.g. working out a clue, hooking up with a new partner.
Late. And it is an item (ball, person, car, etc.) that is caught.

How about Reunion? Clark catches the arrow that Ollie shoots blind in his apartment, Duncan "murders" both Alden and Geoffrey and attempted to murder Ollie with the EMP arrow but Clark raced in and blocked it (the resultant rebound "fried" Duncan's astral body), and Lionel didn't know that his efforts to help Duncan had actually had some success.
Reuion fits, but it isn't what I am looking for. You have the right season, though.
The "something Lionel didn't know" clue actually refers to some information he learns in the episode - so he does know it by the end... I didn't word that very well!

Yes, it was recruit. Here is what I was thinking when I came up with the clues...
-The unexpected visitors were the cops who showed up the Clark's dorm room at 7 a.m.
-The change of heart was Clark giving up football (you were right)

Your guess makes sense
I was actually thinking of an earlier episode (S6), but that is really close!
In the episode I'm thinking about, the person who actually betrayed someone's trust had their trust (Clark doesn't trust Brainiac, so it wasn't really a betrayal of trust).
Also, I put "secret identities" in quotes for a reason - in a couple of instances, at least, it can be taken pretty lightly.
The person whose trust is betrayed is the same person that makes the important decision.

Solitude-Chloe makes a comment about R2D2 in reference to Brainiac
Bizarro-"galaxy far far away"

Nice analysis, Dr Walden.
Lionel doesn't appear in Drone, but Lex mentions him a couple of times in relation to the article Karen Castle is writing (about Lex) but I can't see where Lionel was helping Lex in those references. In Solitude, the only real "help" Lionel gave Lex was to tell him to get his house in order for the upcoming election campaign, after telling him he was worried about his legacy and eccentricity. And Bizarro (S7) has already been eliminated.
Lex Dance

Bearing in mind your speciality with quotations skully, is Dr. Walden's list of quotes comprehensive?
No, he's missed the episode I'm looking for.
And you are right, Lex Dance, that Chloe has used the "galaxy far far away" more than once, including in the episode that I want!

07-08-2008, 08:19 AM
Bearing in mind your speciality with quotations skully, is Dr. Walden's list of quotes comprehensive? As MrsK correctly points out, no I didn't know whether the list was comprehensive. I have a passable knowledge of Star Wars references but not enough to match them to lines in SV.
So Chloe has used the "Galaxy far far away line" other than in Bizarro and prior to S7?
----- Added 11 Minutes later -----
OK, I think I have it. Is it Static? The Star Wars reference is Chloe's line to Clark at the DP when she refers to Zoners and activities in Seattle "They're from galaxies far, far away." and that Clark can't go unarmed. Martian Manhunter makes his first appearance on the Seattle docks at night after he saved Clark from the Zoner. Lionel moves 33.1 for Lex to save it from being exposed by Bronson.
