View Full Version : The inevitable Lex "memory wipe"

Let's face it, anytime Lex learns the truth, he eventually loses his memory..
S1 = Lex discovers the secret in "Hug" and forgets all about it after recovering from Rickman's control
S3 = Lex discovers the secret in "Shattered", only to get electroshock and forget
S5 = Lex discovers the secret in "Vessel" only to be posessed by Zod and then have yet no memory once again by the end of the S6 opener
S7 = Discovers the truth yet again in "Arctic", only for the FOS to collapse on top of him..
Does anyone even doubt that S8 will open with the typical Lex memory wipe? It is basically guaranteed that he will probably be put into a coma after what happened at the end of the episode, and then wake up in the S8 opener with no memory. I know that MR wants out of Smallville. But they obviously can't kill off Lex Luthor because it is way too early in the overall story. So the only way to keep the mystery of CK intact for Lex is to wipe his memory yet again. Just another opportunity for Smallville writers to tease something in a finale and wipe the slate clean in the opener.
My guess is that MR will be contracted on an episode per episode basis next season.

That is what I was thinking too. MR will have guest apperances in season 8 to finish off his characters plot line.
Think you are right about another memory wipe. I saw that coming when I saw the trailer where Lex and Clark is in the fortress. It is just a matter of when for when it happens.

I don't think MR will be back at all. I hope he is, but I seriously doubt it.

I dont think he is coming back. He said in interviews he's done. I think they'll say he's just gone missing and no one has seen him since he went to the arctic

Then let's have a time shifted/future Lex make a guest appearance.....Gene Hackman, you're wanted on stage!

Gene Hackman is too old to be Lex again.

Memory wipe seems the most likely explanation to justify why Lex doesn't recognise Clark when he sees Superman. I know most people hate it, but how else would they explain it?

Gene Hackman is too old to be Lex again.
Let's see.....Jack Larsen played an old Jimmy Olsen is L&C....Gene could still play Lex at some age.
Groucho Marx: "You're only as old as the woman you feel."
Maybe Lex will be transported to the Alternate Universe where he becomes the ruler of the Alternate Planet. I think that happens in the comics at some point.

The orb will send them both to the PZ and from there with the help of MM & SG, because once again the writers will make Clark weak, they will all escape the PZ. And in the process Lex will come out with some coma/memory wipe that he will eventually get through with the help of Belreeve or Miss Tessmacher. And in escaping the PZ like last time; will unleash Doomsday. And then the Show Finale will be Chloe and Jimmy in a very long wedding dance with Shelby being the ring bearer.

He might be in a coma, and wake up and have no memory of Clark at all.

I don't think a memory wipe will be necessary. Lex didn't confirm that clark was kryptonian...so what if clark can visit the fortress---> answer, he can get to it by the caves. has lex truly seen clark do anything amazing like kara did at this mansion with the fireplace?
I agree that its an issue about lex knowing clark's secret. but the only secret i see here is lex knowing that clark has a clubhouse " step up from the barn"
I hope there's no memory wipe...but something more creative

Sorry guys, but in the recording of an interview by supermanhomepage.com with Michael Rosenbaum, he said he won't come back for a "visit", since it'd require him shaving his head for 'just an episode or two of a TV show'.
He could always do it anyway, but that's what he said. :(

It's going to happen ...Or being hit really hard on his head from the FOS that he won't remember...Lex did call Clark "Kal-El".

And that goes for everyone else living in Smallville - Let's be real here - The first time Lois Lane or Jimmy Olsen see Superman, they will say - "Clark, what's with the funny costume?" No glasses here, you know.As if they wouldn't recognize clark with glasses. In the Smallville show, Clark looks like Superman - no glasses.
Jor-el will have to do a memory wipe on the whole town to protect "Superman".

to say this is the last epi for MR...it's sod all as a finisher to Lex's character who has OOOONNNLLLY just formed into the lex we expected he would become.
it's darn right stupid.
