Except for MR and a few decent things here and there, Arctic was a big old turd-basket.

The Clana breakup was horrible! HORRIBLE!

Basically now Clark's only going to get with Lois in the future because Lana left him, not because he realized she isn't the one. CRAP. And of course, someone had to once again tell Clark that he has a greater destiny. This time it being both Lana and Lois. If he hasn't figured that out by now, then he never will. Leave his useless ass on the farm.

Which leads me to another problem all together. That Daily Planet internship that Lois was handing to Clark. KLONK! How out of left field was that? When has Clark ever expressed to her or anyone an interest in journalism? Was that the weekly 'Canon' dust that the writers/producers sprinkled on the episode to show us that they are somewhat keeping with the Superman mythos? Please, dude.

As for the ending of the episode. WHAT?! Shouldn't MR get a more definitive ending than just the FoS collapsing in on itself? How is that supposed to defeat a solar-power Kryptonian? And why would you have that type of a cliffhanger when MR isn't coming back? Oui.

As for Clark, he's beyond being just a BDA now. He's a freakin fetus, like George O'Malley. Its sad that last week, when Edward Teague pitched a fit on Clark for being useless (before the Krypto-flashlight and bloody ritual carving) I was actually cheering that crazy monk on. Is that supposed to happen when Clark is the supposed protagonist on the show?

He is useless. And Chloe needs to stop enabling his worthless ass. YES he didn't do enough to stop Lex from finding the device. YES he has not been proactive enough. Clark never learns and he always has to clean up the mess that he either creates via his selfishness or that happen because he hasn't done enough.

After everything that has happened this season alone, someone needs to ream him for being so damn pathetic! Looks like it won't be Chloe. I know its just a show, and I think TW has grown leaps and bounds throughout SV's run, but the damage that the writers have done to the Clark Kent character in this interpretation of Superman is kinda irreversible. I can't see what they could possibly do in Season 8 that would fix the character assasination of Clark Kent.

I hope everyone who watches the show and reads the message boards that Smallville is its one version of the Superman mythos and not directly tied to the movies at all. Otherwise, how could the fetus known as Clark Kent in SV approach anything near what Superman was in the movies?

Okay, off my rant pulpit.

Even though Michael has been trying to leave the show for a while, it looks like the writers were never prepared for Michael's departure.

As for Clark behaving dumb, I think Shelby is mind controlling Clark.

there is no way to plausibly turn Clark into Superman at this point... I'm sorry to say this but... Chloe's being there doesn't help either. Sure she makes the show watchable, but Clark cant help but use her as a crutch it's not her fault.

Which is why I am certain that s8 will be the season of lights... more ridiculous, implausible lightbulbs like that crap Lois pulled tonight but occurring in almost ever single freakin episode!!

As for tonight; This wasnt the worst finale ever IMO, Commencement has the distinction. but this comes in next place. Rosenbaum was the only thing holding driving this episode and holding it together. At the end I didn't have the "oh **** what's gonna happen next!!" feeling this time, I didn't feel like anything of major consequence happened apart from the last 5 minutes the rest was a waste

It didn't really feel like a finale to me

SCORE! it was a heartbreaking video. well if it makes u feel a lil better, Lana's coming back next season and then maybe they'll end it differently. although it must kill u that she's coming back..

anyway, I thot the eppy was alright. By normal sv standards. I think the main reason ppl dont like it is the fact that we all kno we're never gonna see lex again. Which IS sad cuz I have no clue how they're explaining what happened at the end.

It could've been ALOT worse, from the trailer & rumors, we thot chloe was gonna kick the bucket suddenly. but that didnt happen

edit: oh well, I guess the bad part was the fact that Clark is still blaming himself for the 50th time this season.

You hit the nail on the head Dru-zod. And seriously, would you want this version of Clark Kent as Superman anyway?!

The fortress wasn't destroyed like I thought it was going to be. it more just sunk into the snow. Not A Bad Episode. Why did everyone hate It. I loved It. Then again i just love SV in general but still. Also The clana break-up was harsh. grow some balls lana and break up face to face. you don't give them a freakin video. I think that purple pulse when lex put the orb in that fortress took clarks powers away. he acted like he was around kryptonite.

Clark needs to grow some balls.

Lana couldn't break up with Clark face to face - she is overseas filming the Legend of Chun-Li. So having her appear via webcam was one of the few options available to the writers. I agree though, it was a pretty lame scene. I agree that Clark should've broken things off - why don't they allow him to grow up more?

Someone said, "When has Clark ever expressed to her or anyone an interest in journalism?" He uses the resource of the Planet all the time (or at least he did before Chloe got canned). But in any case, he did work at the Torch! So the background in journalism is definitely there... it's more of a skill/experience then it is a passion though.
