After seeing the ending again, I noticed that Lex may have control of him. That's prolly why Clark looked so weak at the very end. Did you also notice that his powers seemed to dissapear after Lex put the orb in?

No, for some weird reason the crystal suddenly destroys the fortress and Clark instead of controlling him. Stupid, eh? I think he was weak because of whatever was happening with the fortress. How Lex could have not been surprised and known the fortress woudl collapse is beyond me too. While I liked some of the last scene, much of it doesn't match the rest of Smallville. You would think would want the fortress preserved to look into more, as well.

They can't do the control of Clark angle because Michael Rosenbaum won't be returning next season.

Yeah I dont think the orb was meant to control anything just kill clark and the FOS.

Well from reading a lot of speculation that I think Jor-El made the fortress collapse to save clark but on that we wont know until the premiere

There are a few things that happened with the orb. It seems to resist Brainiac and Clark. When Lex placed it on the console a bolt of light shoots in to Clark's chest and he falls on the ground but is awake.

I think the orb removes Clark's powers and destroyed/reversed the fortress along with a memory wipe. So even if Clark was evil he doesn't have his power, memory or his source of knowledge to be a threat to anybody anymore.

This would be bad if this was just to stop Clark from being destructive because Jor-El has removed Clark's powers before in a much easier way before. This is extreme. So may be the orb was not Jor-El's creation ?

There must be some safeguard to stop the opposite from happening i.e. evil human taking control of Clark. So not really sure where this is going to go...

I just hope the premiere doesn't open with Clark in New Jersey or any random place in the world for that matter, and he's got a job somewhere like a diner with no idea who he is ( much like Kara's situation). But I can really see that happening for some reason lol
