Reverse Hero Story

Lex's decision to "save" humanity from Clark was almost like a reverse hero story. Given the way Clark has moped about how dangerous he is, it comes across that way even more. Certainly, he deserved it to a certain extent for just sitting by and doing nothing to stop Lex. I don't buy Lex's reasoning completely....he's another guy who's a hero in his own mind. But he does come across as doing what he's doing for selfless reasons.

I definitely liked this reverse hero story aspect I have to say. What did everyone else think?

I'm pretty sure the reverse hero thing is part of Lex's thinking all the time. Part of his reasoning in the majority if comics i think is that he thinks he is the good guy but no one else sees it. I liked how he accused clark of plotting while acting like he is normal. That reminds me of more comic mythos stuff. Lex thinks that Superman's hero thing is just an act and that he is going to turn on the planet so he appoints himself to "protect" earth. That seemed to be the way this story unfolded for Lex. He thinks that he was prepared thoughout his life so that he could kill his "friend" and be okay with it because its for the greater good. The reasoning is right if you think about it the way he does. I really enjoyed this episode. A little too fast paced but it is only 44 minutes of entertainment. I hope that we get to see Lex again before the series ends though... just like a 2 episode arc or something.

I really do think Lex (in this incarnation anyway) truly believes he's mankind's savior. In the end of the episode, he's willing to die for that idea.

I don't believe he's right, of course.

i always loved how lex viewed himself as a hero taking on a superpowered alien/god type.
it is brave....evil but brave.

I don't buy what Lex is selling either. He's the hero of his own story. But still, it was an interesting alternate take.
