^^ Yeah, I mean just compare the two hugs. So similar, yet so different. There was a natural progression to their relationship over the season that accounts for the difference in Clark and Lois's attitudes towards each other.

Great pictures...I guess going to the bar and talk did help;)

I think Clark was in shock about Lana's fake death. There was no body... there was no funeral. And the whole "Somewhere Out There" gazing at the moon thing... I think that was to convey that Clark... maybe instinctively knew that Lana wasn't dead.
On another note... aw Clois hugs. :)

I would like to point out, for those who say that Clark and Lois' friendship is "rushed," they did hug quickly in episode 5.1, where they first saw each other after the second meteor shower. It was certainly a different circumstance, but the fact remains that their friendship is nothing new.

Good point Aaron! And also they secretly became friends in the episode "Lucy." ;)

Heck, we got a hug in ep 4.1(or was it 2?) when Gen Lane came to get Lois. Before she left she hugged him and told him it was about Chloe.
okay, so it was just a means to an end (telling Clark that it was about Chloe) but it was still a nice scene. *sigh*
Great pics. A perfect comparison. And up close...holy smokes, Clark's face just makes me want to cry. Great emotional projection by Tom in this scene.

It sure was...I don't see how, seeing this pic, people can think he's not a good actor. He looked very genuinely upset. I thought it was excellent.
Anyhow, great points on all the earlier Clois hugs :)

if you want to look at the statistics for season 7, Lois has been in 12 episodes and they have had 3 hugs all season(so 25% of the episodes) of those 12 episodes i believe there was 5 with no interaction(you could say 7 because there was 2 episodes with very limited interaction) at all bringing the hug ratio up to 43% of the time when they together.

I love love love LOVE how Lois keeps getting called the rebound girl
I bet my brand new PC that if he were to hook up with Chloe, SHE wouldn't be called the rebound girl. Noooo, she'd be the perfect choice, love of his life an' all that stuff.
Jeez, gotta love the one-sided comments
Well of course Chloe wouldn't be called "the rebound girl", she's known as "backpocket Chloe" instead. :p

Indeed. The thread about laughing at Welling... wtf? He was totally pulling it off. Probably a mixture of sadness and rage, so of course you're not totally crying.
Then again, not all males are as in touch with their emotions (or, ya know, perfect) as I am. ;)

3 hugs? Which one was the 3rd hug?

I still hate that Clark was crying more for Lana leaving him, then her being dead at the end of season 7.
I think he was in shock over her death. Plus, at that time, she was married to Lex. This time, they've dated, lived together and slept together (well, at in "Wrath" and maybe after Biz left).
Huge change in their relationship. And, it was totally out of left field. He goes to her hospital room, all chipper and happy that his girlfriend woke up from a painful catatonic state & instead of a nice long kiss, he gets handed a break-up DVD.
Anyone would be upset.

There was "Arctic," "Siren," and...didn't Lois hug him when she said, "You touch my @$$ again, I'll be taking your hand with me when I go..." or whatever the specific line was? When she thought he had been upset about Lana?

Oh yeah, "Siren"!!!! *slaps self*
I can't believe I blanked on that amazing moment. *must go drink more coffee*

OK, well, to compare properly, then, I guess I should post that hug over here, too. (Again, credit to Sandrinha over at DI for the pics).

Can I just say that after re watching the episode today .... I really liked how Lois supported Clark at the end ..... He really needed that hug !!! Well done Lois :D
Yes, I loved the Clois scenes in this season. I loved how they came full circle with the hug in the first episode and then the last one. And both of them were over Lana.

Lois & Clark's relationship grown so much over the seasons.Remember when they first met, those 2 couldn't stand besides each other 1 minute without throwing childish comments at each other and now they are hugging and becoming so close. They really care about each other and want the other to be happy.Lois was the best person to comfort him because she's the one who would really know how CK really felt at that very moment cause that exacktly what happened between Oliver & her. This scene was a foreshadowing.Remember,Clana is the past and Clois is the future.

Nah. She's comforting him over the loss of the one he was never meant to be with. Big difference. ;)

Ugh. I agree. I actually wouldn't have minded Clana if all the angst didn't make me want to throw the both of them under a bus on a regular basis.

If the writers ended it in season 5 when Lana and Clark split and she ran to Lex it would have been ok, but I guess the writers felt that Clark sitting in his barn having a pity party was great tv for a whole season

His one true love? Even without all the foreshadowing to Clois and without all the knowledge we all have that Clois is the epic couple, how could two people who make each other so miserable like Clark and Lana be 'the one true love'. Laughable.

You mean it wasn't? DARN! I always confuse "must see tv" with "tv that makes me want to take my own life." I've gotta work on that, clearly!

Actually, I wouldn't call it genuine develoment at all. It was just another example of the character being shoe-horned into a scene where she wasn't needed (just one of many examples).

I agree. The scene would be better without Lana in it. :p

In the first scene between them in this episode they got to the angst before Chloe walked in, it was hard to figure out what they was going to do unless Chloe came in, it looked like she found out how much he cared for her.
I think she came back later to hound him about the Daily Planet job again or ask about what was about to happen, then she saw the break-up dvd and did what any good 'friend' would even though she would never admit to being his friend.
