With the writers strike shorting Season 7 from the usual 22 episodes, to 20, is Season 7's 20th episode "Arctic," the Season Finale, the best? "Arctic" is the season finale and is full of cliffhangers, but is there another 20th episode thats better? What do you guys think?
Season 1: "Obscura" - Lana has visions involving a kidnapping of Chloe and a crop duster reveals to Lex what he saw fall from the sky during the Smallville meteor shower.
Season 2: "Witness" - Thugs who gain strength by inhaling Kryptonite mist leave Clark feeling powerless when they attack Jonathan and Martha.
Season 3: "Talisman" - An ancient "star blade" found in the Kawatche Cave gives absolute power to its possessor... and it corrupts absolutely.
Season 4: "Ageless" - The Kents take in an infant found in a field... and soon face a problem: The child grows at an exponential rate, and his next surge of energy/growth could destroy the town.
Season 5: "Fade" - A hitman who has the power of invisibility decides to help Clark reunite with Lana by making Lex disappear... permanently.
Season 6: "Noir" - Clark's a bumbling reporter. Lana's a femme fatale. Lois is a torch singer. They're all part of the jumble Jimmy faces when a thwack to the head plunges him into an 1940s-era dreamland.
Season 7: "Arctic" - Kara tells Lex he is destined to defeat the Traveler and offers to take him to the Fortress to learn how. Clark is stunned that Kara would go to Lex but it is revealed that Brainiac is impersonating Kara and she’s trapped in the Phantom Zone. Chloe is arrested and Lana awakens from her comatose state. Meanwhile, Clark and Lex face off in the Fortress and Lex learns Clark’s secret.

Imo, none of the 20th episodes are that great.
Especially Ageless. :\
Noir wasn't too bad.
But i'll have to wait and see.
Wow. While it was really tough to choose from a bunch of GREAT 19th episodes, #20 hasn't ever been stellar. Obsucra is my favorite of these thus far; Talisman and Noir were okay. I'll have to wait and see after tonight, but the bar hasn't been set very high for it to be better the other #20s.

This isn't really a fair comparison all the other 20th episodes were just filler..

I also have a thread entitled "Best Season Finale of the Series? but if you look at the note of my starter thread for this, youll understand why I made this particular thread, about the 20th episodes...

Ageless, definitely.
I would have to say Arctic is the best 20th episode by far, although it isn't even close to being the best finale.

I'm voting for "Arctic", but just like MrsK said, it's not close to being the best finale for me.

Talisman was the best. I really like Obscura and Witness as well. I would choose any of these 3 episodes over Arctic any day.

I voted Noir. I really liked that episode. ^_^

It's not a fair comparision given this episode probably has a Finale type budget, so this is probably easily the best episode 20 of the series. We should really be comparing it to the other Finales, and it was definitely not comparable to Commencement.

Well that is not a fair thread because even if it is the 20th episode it is ALSO the season finale and should be compared to episodes like PHANTOM, COMMENCEMENT, COVENANT etc. Yeah in a pole like that it could easily take the last place..

I have a thread also, for the "Best Season Finale of the Series?" but if you look at my starter post for this thread, youll understand why I made this particular thread, which is for fun, since the regular 22 episode season, went down to 20 episodes... dont freak out.

"Arctic" by far.
"Talisman" is a distant second

I'm going to say Noir simply because Clark was iconic Clark Kent in the beginning of it.

It really shouldn't be with theses episodes it should be with finales, but with these arctic is definitely best

Talisman and then Arctic. I'm probably partial to Talisman because of the Native American theme as I have a Cherokee heritage. I have often wondered if Tom Welling ever discussed his Native American roots with the Native actors.

I loved the story line of talisman, especially the ending.
But I'll have to go with arctic because of the amazing special effects.

You know... I really thought that Arctic would be the winner for me, hands down. But Talisman was able to hand the piece of crap that is known as Arctic its a**.

I really liked Talisman and Ageless, to be honest, ageless just seemedto have some important part in Clark's lifee, might have been a bit of a pointless episode but it was pritty good.
Artic's got to win, it summed up what it had to do, but badly.
This episode could have easily been 2 hours long, and if it was, it would have been so much better, Lex's and Clarks seen was rubbish, it really was, you could tell it was rushed.

Then why does Arctic win? You said it yourself. It was a bad episode. Talisman may not have had the same pressures but it was still a better episode.

None of these eps were the greatest, IMO. It was difficult to choose. I had to go with Arctic because, while I didn't love it it did have a few really terrific moments.

Well as a season finale episode I'd say Arctic is the clear standout winner, at least that's how I see it. I mean just like the old Sesame Street song said, "One of these things is not like the others".
One of these things is not like the others
One of these things just doesn't belong
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song
But anyway, after Arctic (the obvious undisputed victor by far), for me it's a toss-up between Obscura and Fade.

Arctic was easily the best in my opinion. It's only a shame that Michael Rosenbaum left the show after that episode.
