lets hope for 5 millions!!

I hope it can beat last year's finale's 4.14 million. If it can do that, then it'll be the most watched episode since "Blue."

I think "Arctic" should at least do decent. Survivor was out of the mix, it had a good episode leading into it and the ratings were pretty good, Lana, Robert Picardo, and JM as Brainiac were all back, and it was MR's last ep as a regular and it had all the Lex in the FOS stuff.

I doubt it is going to be great. I have Dish Network and my CW channel went out at 7:17pm and didn't come back on until 8:20. How can you get true numbers when the people who watch episodes were unable to view them?

ouch, considering there was no Survivor yesterday you would expect the series final should have broke 4M easily(although i am guessing the final ratings should see a nice bump). I was expecting closer to 4.5M

The Season 6 Finale "Phantom" was 4.14 mil. I was hoping "Arctic" would at least hit 4 mil.:\

I must have seen a different episode--the finale was a great ending to a great season. The final numbers will be higher. How come so many of the above posts are so doom and gloom. SV has a faithful audience, more faithful than what most shows have. We get to have another season (think of the folks who liked Moonlight or Journeyman). Any time sci-fi can run this long, we ought to be thankful. Glass half-empty, glass half-full? I'm thinking pretty positive about SV right now--on to season 8!

I didn't mind the finale, but it wasn't as captivating as past finales. I don't blame some people for tuning out or catching it on DVR instead.

In fact, that last option seems preferable because the commercials can be really annoying sometimes. At least you can skip them this way.

Ouch.

All season finale number's usually jump up in ratings. I mean, no one could have known this finale would have been this...below average considering how great the past ones have been.

I blame the CW.

For arguement sake i don't think Clark has showed he is at the level of those kids this season in general.

That being said looking at the ratings it looks like it went up against a fresh episode of CSI(which is instant ratings death). I am guessing the PVR numbers will be higher then normal

Oh really?! The ratings may actually jump from 3.7 million to a whopping 5 million?! wow!!

I'm sorry but for the mere fact that people seem to keep overlooking the fact that anything below 5 million is awful for any national network show proves that they're just as much in denial as the CW execs who are draining the life out of a great show that was never meant to be strung along like this.

Smallville is about the journey; true. But shouldn't the show have been modified to end once Clark accepted Jor-El as his father and the fact that there are other people with way less resources fighting crime?! These last 3 years were mostly entertaining but pointless and in the end, I think any veteran TV viewer knew something like this was going to happen. (in regards to actors wanting out or wanting more money)

Seriously, this ratings trend is a downward average for 3 seasons straight. The overall season's rating percentage has dropped significantly! Don't we want our show to end rather than die?!

Final is 3.85 million, according to Sitcoms Online.

I'm disappointed. I have no idea why it dropped from last week. Maybe the finales of MNIE and AYSTAFG hurt.

The good news is that it had a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 y/o demo. That was enough to tie with big bad boss CBS and it was the highest rating in that demo since "Siren," same with the 25-54 y/o demo rating: 1.8.

Last season (and the season before that, and probably the season before that) had similar drops, and it bounced back to over 5 million at the beginning of this season. I see no reason why the same won't happen next season.

That scene occured around the middle of the episode, and "Quest" GAINED viewers in the second half-hour. I don't think too many people were offended.

<!-- / message -->I agree. Every major plot twist was revealed by the CW:

- Kara is really Brainiac
- Brainiac helps Lex get to the FoS
- Chloe is arrested
- Lois is investigating Lex
- Final Clex confrontation

Not a lot of reason to tune in if you checked TV guide.

The finale wasn't that good and for MR/ Lex's character to not go out in a really big way that some what brings closure to his character is unsettling. :(

That's true. I think the only surprise was Jimmy proposing to Chloe.

Lex finding out Clark's secret, going to the FOS, and trying to take down the "Traveler" was a pretty big way to go out. But I agree that he didn't get any real closure.

But I agree that he didn't get any real closure.

Yes, but wasn't the episode pretty much done by the time MR officially declined to be in season 8 zero times? I suspect the writers felt sure he would come back at least a few times. Weren't there rumors that he might return for a few episodes? So, in a way Lex's lack of a proper send of was in the hands of MR. His other interests were more important to him than the character of Lex. Not a criticsm, just a thought. I completely understand the concept of "moving on".

Well, maybe if they promoted it better, and Hyped it with an ACTUAL FIGHT SCENE (have the orb give Lex super strength) instead of the girly little chit chat they had in the fortress, maybe it would've gotten better ratings. The creators dropped the ball.

Considering alot of other Tv show finales aired this week then It wasnt to bad a rating though it should have got alot higher, prob around the 4.1m mark....that being said, I thought it wasnt the best finale but wasnt the worst so therefore I will be looking to Season 8 to try and bring in the ratings from earlier seasons, as this will be the last season and hopefully the most actioned packed

SparkleforSmallville
05-18-2008, 08:24 PM
Probably a lot of people recorded it so the DVR ratings should be high. Arctic had some Epic scenes! I thought it was Awesome!

IMO The writers didn't want closure for Lex, they might want it to seem that he is still in control of Luthorcorp and maybe even Clark, in S8. I wish they would get MR to do some lines on a speakerphone or something. I don't think I can go coldturkey off of Lex:/

it's time this show should end not intersted in another season just make a two hour movie and wrap thing up It's overkill. Clark should have moved on by this time.Hes not an adolocent anymore Its time to put an an end to it
The finale left me with not wanting to see how things fare out that plus the writers strike made it totally uninteresting as far more reruns in midseason got totally turned off by it.Only reason it's entering an 8th season is that is a cash cow for the WB
enough is enough just end it all now

You want to know why the ratings were so low? It is because of the fact that the plot for the episode was recycled. It was just a rehash of Vessel. People are tired of seeing the same things over and over. Over the years the writers have made the viewers extremely skeptical. When you combine that with the lack of advertising and the recycled plot, it results in lower viewers.

It used to be where people were excited for the finale. But this season, I could have literally cared less about Arctic.

Arctic was good probably because of their executive producers Miles Millar and Alfred Gough. They wrote about an evolutionary type, they weren't recycling. If Miles Millar and Alfred Gough leave and smallville becomes an average show I'll have no use for watching it and the ratings would go down, this is in my opinion.

Miles is that you? ;)
