Obviously the quote is completely wrong but the idea isn't. Edward Teague said something of this sort in the episode, about how a balance must exist.
Then why later in the episode do we find out that there is an epic battle between them and one will die? Doesn't this go against the whole balance thing?

Wasn't it Chloe that jumped to the conclusion that one of them would have to die? One of the has to be defeated yes, but even if that meant Lex's death, there is always something restore the balance. For every door that closes, another one opens.

So why didn't Teague leave Lex alone.. as the balance would be restored according to that logic?
Also, Teague was shocked that Clark hadn't stopped Lex (ie killed him). This would mess up the balance he later spoke of too...

IMO, Chloe's the real Hero of Smallville and we know that after Lex dies at the end of S7, Chloe goes into a coma, almost death-like state, so The Balance can be restored between "Hero and Adversary." Chloe still pays the price whether Clark takes care of him or, alternative #2, Chloe steps in to "save" Clark's life from Lex or, even alternative #3, someone else steps in to "save" Clark from Lex because he refuses to save himself. Problem solved. Balance restored.

4Chlicks,
Where did you get this spoiler? Or is that just your idea?
