Right after the scene where Clark and Chloe go to the hospital to find Lex and do a Q&A, there is a shot of what is Metropolis, presumably. However, since I just recently re-watched Batman Begins, it looks like they used a similar scene. Anyway, I was just curious, and thought that the scene may be in The Dark Knight.

A lot of movies and shows end up using the same real outdoor scenarions and even soundstages sometimes so it would be a surprise. There is a soundstage of a cafeteria that has been used by many shows as well from Buffy to Stargate...

Part of me kind of doubts it because Batman Begins was filmed in Chicago.

Was it shot in it's entirety there or just some scenes. We do not know if the shots from the episode are from a real outdoor location or a set built on a movie production lot do we?

I've also notcied that in some other episodes of Smallville. You know in Exile, the shot of Metropolis right after the credits and right before the bank scene? I saw that exact shot in some random movie I saw recently and i was like "Thats Metropolis!!"

As I said before set sets are recycled a lot in both movies and shows is a way for the production companies to cut down on costs a bit.

not surprising, the nuclear missiles launching scene that was shown a few times came from terminator 3
Actually yeah, that was the shot of the Narrows from Batman Begins, but they've been using that for the past two seasons. As both are DC/Warner Bros. properties I'm not surprised.
