People have said that they tore down the cave set for the Fortress, so they probably wouldn't rush to bring it back after the writer's strike.
And also, I thought that the description just said that we'd get mention of the caves. Not "WE WILL SEE THE CAVES AGAIN AND JIMMY TAKES INTEREST IN THEM". :)

They're not kids anymore. Adults don't go running to caves every minute like teenagers. It's more realistic that they would look things up on a computer as adults, and besides, it's a computer world. Everything is done by computer.

The description, and no spoilers said that we would see the caves again. It clearly said that "Jimmy takes an interest in the caves," which he did, just not in the way you thought, and assumed...

No, we probably won't see the caves again...maybe ever. But i for one wanna see 'em again. I think there's some more tie-in's to CK mythology, Kawatche prophecy, and even history of the town of Smallville, not to mention Jor-El and Veritas stuff. I think there's some deep storylines they could get into with it.
SAVE THE CAVES!!LOL

People have probably taken pictures of every inch of the caves and theyre probably databased in multiple locations. In actuality, the cave set was torn down so that they could build the Fortress set. The only set from the caves not torn down, is the room where the key is inserted to transport Clark. They can use other means to explore and talk about the caves without seeing them. As much as I'd like to see them again too, I just love the continuity.

Yea it was stated many times the caves set was taken down for the FOS set and the only peice of the cave set left was the portal room.

I do agree that the caves had a richer story line.

I don’t mind using the photos of the symbols instead of wasting money on rebuilding the cave set. It’s better to spend the money elsewhere.

As many have stated, the set was torn down, and TV show budgets just don't have the money to rebuild large sets for only one episode. Which is why we've continued to see Oliver (Green Arrow) Queen's clock tower even though he isn't in the show any more because it saves the money of tearing it down and building a new set. But not only did they tear down the cave set, but they used the exact same space to build the Fortress set (much like they did with 'the Torch' and 'the Daily Planet'), so they don't even have a place to build it.

I believe the last time we saw the portal room was in season 5. If I recall the rebuilt/kept up that small portion of the cave set for a little while longer. I could be wrong.

the caves set was completely destroyed and made into the FOS. there is NO way they are going to make the whole set again, because some fans "feel" like seeing it, and then start chucking crap at smallville.
I hate it how ungrateful and negative people are, I really try and see how people dont like all the episodes, but Im telling you,
ITS PHYSICALLY IMPSSOBLE !!!!!!
make me go absolutely crazy, I think veritas has been SUCH a great installment and gave the show alot of more depth. Veritas is a hug secret and has done so much. Think, without veritas, lex wouldnt have killed lionel. At least not yet, him trying to get that key is one of the big things as to why he killed his dad.
I wouldnt TOUCH season 7 of smallville, its fine the way it is. Although "Fierce" & "Hero" couldve done with a little bit of improving :D
rock on smallville !!!!!

ahhhh, no they didnt, they were pretty real. It wasnt FX'd or anything,
seriously with smallville people find anything to complain about, I wish people would go complain about show that are actually stupid lik greys anatomy and one tree hill and all that nonsense.

The Ace of Clubs set looks like it is the set for Ollie's apartment. Anyone else notice that?

I thought this was a copout. They really should have brought back the caves. The caves are what started all this mythos in the show, not Veritas. Veritas just created a giant mess. They didn't even get the glyphs in the cave right.

Once again. As pretty much everyone one on this thread has stated. They could not bring back the caves as the set was destroyed after season 4.

I think that was a bad move on their part to destroy it. They should have found some storage space and put it there. Just think of how great it would be had a background story been going on from seasons 5-7 where the buildup of the prophecy would take place without the Veritas retcon. I think that's the only reason they made Veritas (because the cave set was torn down and they couldn't use the Kawatche caves anymore to further the storyline).

Well you're forgetting that storage space costs, and even assuming that they do have the set pieces lying around somewhere, it also costs a lot of money to rebuild.
Even keeping the cave wasn't plausible because they needed other sets so they made a decision about which sets they could replace. This isn't a movie budget where they have hundreds of millions of dollars for every episode.

I think they should have sacrificed the space for Ollie's clocktower set for the cave set. The cave set was very important to the Smallville mythos. Ollie's clocktower wasn't since Green Arrow should not have been given so much focus. I heard that set was in storage since Birds of Prey was cancelled. That's an awful long time.
The cave could have been the vehicle by which others (Lex) could have gotten closer to Clark's secret while Clark focused mainly on the FOS & neglected the cave.

Like I said. Re-building would have been very costly, and while its quite possible the cave set is still in storage, we don't actually know that for a fact.
In this case it seems very likely that its not a matter of 'being cheap' but just the fact that they don't have a big enough budget.
