the AU prooved, once again, that the only thing Lana and CHloe really have in common is Clark.

It's just a further display of the dichotomy between them.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH that's so true!!! In the alternate universe they didn't even hang out! Lana was still a cheerleader ! Chloe was at the torch...

I guess Clark was the one who bridged the gap between them. I wonder if Chloe was still friends with Pete. Since I'm guessing they met because Pete was friends with Clark to begin with.

Actually Chloe was friends with pete way before she knew clark. In 'Hero' Chloe tells jimmy
she was friends with pete before she was with clark.

So I am guessing that means that Pete had a part in Clark and Chloe being friends then. Because otherwise it wouldn't work out since Chloe only came to smallville when she was in the 8th grade. So she only knew them a year before the show started.

Yeah. The fact that w/ out Clark they weren't friends didn't surprise me at all. Part of what bonded them was their common crush on Clark in the begining.

^ Yeah that's true.....I guess they did know each other in the alternate universe as well.

The thread starter is right about Lana and Chloe only being friends because of Clark though. Chloe referred to her as the "cheerleader" so I guess during high school that's all Lana was known for and in the real world I think that's what she least wanted to happen to her to be labeled as the "cheerleader"

Am I wrong on that? because I'm not sure.

That sounds pretty accurate. At least her dub of the 'cheerleader' is more flattering than 'The girl with a new stalker every week'.

I think it may be a two-way street with Clark and Lana. Clark joined the football team to be near Lana, and Lana probably left cheerleading to be near Clark. Funny how that is. Lana wanting to be near Clark brought Chloe and Lana together as friends.

I thought about this possibility. But in the end I think that Clark brought these two very different girls together, and friendship developed. They never would have become friends if not for Clark. I guess I agree with All about Clark. I think Chloe and Lana truly are friends but maybe their paths would not have crossed if not for Clark.

I still say without Clark, Chloe & Lana would have been dead. Lex did not know about the freaks until reading Chloe's Torch articles. He wouldn't have been able to stop Greg Arkin from killing Lana. And the main reason Chloe was able to write about freaks was because Clark was able to stop them. So Chloe's success is also proven to be based on Clark.

I never caught that but that makes zero sense. In one episode Chloe told how when she first got to school Clark was assigned to show "the new girl around" and that's how the bond started. If she knew Pete before that then why wouldn't Pete be assigned to be her guide.

Come to think of it, why do the meteor freaks suddenly become homicidal when Clark comes of age? Why were Chloe and Lana or any other journalists not in danger while Clark was still growing up? Why are only the meteor infected people at Smallville High and Lexcorp homicidal?

Wouldn't there be several generations of Meteor criminals before Clark started at Smallville High?

Maybe without Clark around... Greg Arkin became best friends with Pete. Then as he was going through his awkward stage, Pete was there to support him when his mom didn't understand him. That way, he didn't channel all his love into bugs and obsessing over Lana. He had Pete's friendship to diffuse the crazy.

That's a good question. It really doesn't make sense. Maybe they were homicidal but it didn't get special treatment until Chloe started writing about it.

Or maybe the people needed to be exposed for a certain number of years before they went crazy. Jeremy Creek needed only a 1-time exposure since he was exposed to a high concentration of meteors.

I think Tina Greer would have killed Lana either way. She was nuts and it had nothing to do with Clark.

Or she would have kept Lana in locked in a room for 24 years and forced her to have tea parties.

Oh wait... wrong psycho.

Even Tina would have lived with Lana in disguise before killing her.

Maybe Lana's relationship with Whitney lasted a little bit longer in the AU. *hint hint*

Ew.

Let's see,the 2 girls didn't even know each other before meeting CK.They never hanged out together, they didn't belong in the same clubs.Lana was the popular one, cheerleader, prom queen type, her boyfriend was the hunky quarterback ect...Chloe was the serious one,she ran the Torch, wanted to be a reporter, investigated all curious phenomonons that was going on in Smallville ect...

You're absolutly right,as soon as Clark came in the picture, they started noticing each other more and more and finally became friends.

When Chloe referred to Lana as the "cheerleader", it reminded me of "Labyrinth", when Clark is talking to Lana and she claims that she has only ever been in love with him, since the start of high school. Then he says, "What about Whitney?", and Lana says, "What? The ball jock?"
