View Full Version : Anyone note that Jimmy refered to the editor of the DP as female?

I think it was Jimmy who called the editor of the Daily Planet "she".

Does that meant that Paulette Khan is still editor?

I just thought it was another nice little touch as to the differences in the AU.

And I have to admit I had a moment where I thought the editor was going to be...well, someone else. Heh.

I dont know why...but I kind of thought it was Lois....which I know it's not, but I just assumed that then didnt think about it.

I'm with you, I would've liked to have seen a certain editor with the initials PW to have been at least mentioned, especially with all of the other classic Superman moments in the episode, I thought that would've been a cool little thing to throw in there.

I thought he was referring to Lois too. That was the first person to pop into my head when he said "she" .....:\

Same here. I thought (and I still believe) that he was referring to Lois.

I actually thought, hmmmm is he refering to PK(from thirst)????

I wonder if they threw that bit in there as a swerve(some of us speculating they might bring Perry back next season). Not truth to that though, just random specualtion.

I was under the impressison he was referring to Pauline Kahn, actually. Even though I would of had loved for Perry White to be mentioned, but oh well..*crosses fingers for next season!*

I thought Jimmy was referring to his editor, not the editor. Are there not junior-level editors? I'm not up on the world of journalism and newspapers.

My first thought was that it was Chloe but... no. I don't think it was. I've always imagined Chloe in Richard Write's position at the planet. In season 4 they played that angle a little bit with Chloe as Torch editor and Lois and Clark her top reporters.

Maybe it was still Pauline Kahn. Hmm...

Good point stenochick. That would make sense. But with the amount of time Grant Gabriel spent down in the basement bothering everyone, I think he meant the editor of the paper.

True. But I never was able to wrap my brain around the fact that GG was THE editor of the DP. I know he was, but he seemed more like an editor, or supervisor if you will, of the cub reporters in the basement.

If Jimmy was referring to the editor, then I would say it was some unknown female, unless Pauline Kahn was rehired as editor after GG.

I would have loved a cameo or that he talked about Perry White instead. But,he was referring to Pauline Kahn.

IMHO, Perry as DP editor in the AU would have been a plot hole. Remember, before he met Clark he was a drunk with his career going downhill. In the AU, no Clark to change his life.

Also, anyone notice how Jimmy called Lois,"Miss Lane?" Between that, the sweater vest and the bow tie he was very much like the 1950's 'Adventures of Superman' Jimmy (with a little of the 1970's Jimmy camera work thrown in).

Exactly plus I saw lois as the editor in the au thats why lex went just after her and not her boss plus she mentions having a pulitzer meaning she has been a reporter for a long while in that universe.

Now I'll have to get the S7 DVDs to figure out what parts were cut out of Apocalypse. I'll bet the Deleted Scenes will include a bit about the "she" referred to as the editor who complained of "focus issues", which may be one of Jimmy's old girlfriends, just like the one who gave him the bowtie, Chloe. "Focus issuses" could be related to relationship problems, not just Jimmy's camera as we know Jimmy has a wandering eye - Karimmy offers a fine example.

Jimmy is the photographer with the wandering eye and, if Chloe was the editor commenting on his "focus issues", she was referring to his girl-chasing while they were dating, not just his photos.

I dnk if Chloe were Jimmy's editor I think she would be a little more professional then let her feelings get in the way. And if Chloe were the editor I doubt she would still date Jimmy. Maybe that's why she broke up w/ Jimmy. She got promoted and then she met George.

I like the idea of Chloe being an editor. She was a great Torch editor and she loves to boss people around.

Don't worry. She probably finished dating Jimmy when she made the comment or she wouldn't have made it at all. Because you're right. She is very professional. But Jimmy being "Mr. Lex is working with the Egyptians" and a little thick at times, (not to mention monumentally stupid for letting Chloe get away from him to chase skirts - "very iconic Jimmy flirt"), the comment probably flew right over his head. Note how he actually believed "she"/Chloe was really referring to his photos and not him, thus the comment to Clark. :)

Yeah, I was trying to be coy but basically I figured the "she" they were referring to was Pauline Kahn. I had a brief moment of terror that it might be Lana but then I figured not even TPTB would do that...

Right?
