AU vs. Real World
This thread is just to discuss the differences and possible similarities between the Real World and the AU and what they might mean, if anything.
Chloe Sullivan: It is unclear whether or not Chloe Sullivan works at the Daily Planet in this reality. It could go either way. Her husband is a police officer for the Metropolis PD. She worked for the Torch and she doesn't seem to find it odd that Clark complements her investigation skills. So it's clear that whether or not she's at the DP, she's into investigation and was at one time very interested in Journalism.
The Meteor Shower: I don't know which meteor shower happened or did both? I've always thought that whether or not Clark lived, there would still be a meteor shower as a result of Krypton blowing up. Does this mean that Lana Lang's parents were still killed? It certainly means that there were still Meteor Freaks. If Lois knows about them perhaps they were a frequent occurrence in SV whether or not Clark existed.
Lana/Chloe friendship: It seems that in a world where Clark Kent never existed, Chloe and Lana would never be friends. I guess rather than calling the sincerity of their frienship into question, it just means that Clark is the reason Chloe and Lana crossed paths socially. Without his existence friendship never had a chance to develop.
Lana Lang Cheerleader: It is interesting that without Clark, Lana never really shook the whole Cheerleader image. I wonder if she never managed the Talon or tried to rebel against her Aunt Nell in this reality. If not, maybe Lana wasn't as happy as she seems. Perhaps I'm reading into it too much. I'm glad that Lana got to pursue art.
AU Kara: Her story is so complex. I suppose it's sort of a "what if Lionel found Clark" kind of story. It also kind of plays out a scenario in which Kara (Clark) trusts Lex completely as a brother. I enjoyed Kara being used as a "what if" in Lara. What if Clark disobeyed Jonathan, was careless about his secret and captured by the government? So here again I enjoyed seeing a "what if" story play out with Lex. Does Kara have a fortress or does she just use Clark's as her own. Did Zor-el give her the mission to kill Clark? Why if Clark never came to earth due to Brainiac? I guess Brainiac stopped Clark from being sent at the last minute.
