that little speech he gave Clark in the Fortress, am I right in thinking this is the first time he has acted all fatherly to Clark and tried to drum it in to him why he is on Earth. No cryptic messages which could be taken the wrong way. Just straight, you are on this Earth to watch over us all and save the ones when needed.
Nah he gave a pretty nice fatherly speech back in S5 when he was Lion-El. Albeit he also told CK someone he loved was doomed, but he still showed affection.

I like the way TPTB never make Jor-el say what Clark's mission is.
We know about the message in the ship and "Apocalypse" seems to point out that BRAINIAC messed it up to put CK on a collision course with Jor-el.
We know from Fallout that Jor-el sent Clark to Earth to save humanity (Raya told Clark) but Jor-el has never said it himself, or am I wrong? The only time he mentioned Clark's mission was in "Commencement" when he said he sent him to retrieve the three stones.

I agree. It has been a slow build up of information from Pa-El to this point, and now Clark should finally realise that Jor-El has been allowing him to mature through learning from his failures and mistakes, but he now knows what his true destiny is. Woot!!!
