Zod to return?

I know Zod was mentioned in the alternate timeline, but could it be that Brainiac plans to bring him back? If he goes back to Krypton again, he can swipe him before he gets placed in the Phantom Zone and bring him to Earth. That's the only possible thing I could see him do now that he failed at killing Clark as a baby. Or maybe he will just clone Zod's body and try to have the Phantom Zone portal opened to release him phantom and possess the cloned body.

I think it would be interesting, so long as it isn't done in the 'vessel' format. If we could see Zod and not Lex-od.. That'd be awesome.

I don't want to see Zod again, the rumor is he'll be back in the next movie too, but he's been done enough, let's get some new blood in there.

This episode actually changed Zod's history. Zod is no longer responsible for Krypton's destruction. It is now explained as a natural event where the sun exploded and took Krypton with it. There's no way Zod could destroy a sun. We have proof of this because in Lara, there were explosions/tremors coming from within the planet, not from the sun.

So I wonder what else has now changed with Zod's story. Maybe his body was no longer destroyed?

You're assuming the story's history actually changed and that its not just a plothole. Don't give the writers any credit until we know for sure. You won't be let down anymore than I am!...or at least for your sake I hope not! :)
