"Apocalypse" - Best 18th Episode of the Series?

Season 1: "Drone" - Clark vies for class president, and goes up against a beekeeping rival, who will do anything to make sure she wins.
Season 2: "Visitor" - A student with unusual interests and powers believes he's an alien - and he wants Clark to help him return to his homeworld.
Season 3: "Truth" - An incident at LutherCorp's Smallville plant leaves Chloe with a power that can compel anyone to tell her the truth.
Season 4: "Spirit" - A car accident in a ravine filled with Kryptonite gives a wannabe prom queen's spirit the power to take over the bodies of others - including elected queen Chloe!
Season 5: "Fragile" - Clark befriends a troubled girl who has anger - and telekinetic powers that can shatter glass - she can't control.
Season 6: "Progeny" - Chloe experiences strange memory lapses when her mother uses her unusual powers to contact, and possibly reunite with her.
Season 7: "Apocalypse" - Clark sees what life would be like if he had never arrived on Earth. Jor-El arranges for him to see what life would have been like if Clark hadn't existed - Lex is President of the United States, Kara is raised by the Luthors, Jonathan is alive, Lana is happily married and Chloe and Lois are ace reporters.

The only good thing about Spirit was Annette O'tooles performance.
Progeny had potential but ended up just being another average episode.
Fragile was just a filler, and it was a boring one. No offense to Tom, it was the Writers fault.
Visitor was a disapointment after such a good episode
And drone was bad.

Seriously though, just reading the brief descriptions of episodes, doesn't it make you laugh at some of the absurdity of the show, even taking into consideration it's comic book based. Such as..."Clark faces a beekeeping rival"

My thoughts EXACTLY. Dang, this one looks good.

As for the other seasons, I liked "Visitor" and "Truth" the best. And "Progeny" gave us the lovely Lynda Carter, if only for one episode.

But all that aside--bring on Apocalpyse!!!

Albeit, "Truth" had AMAZING Chloevage (Clark tears her shirt open), Apocalypse was just...It was what Clark needed to get out of his worry stage, opening up the door to an awesome season finale and season 8.

OMG! Best 18th episode of the series, and best episode of the season with Descent! Lex was fantastic, the whole Kara/Brainiac is definitely extremely puzzling, Clark/Lois was amazing, Red Sun and Krypton did the episode!!!!!

Only three of these seven are episodes that are memorable, to me, that I would re-watch on DVD. The other four I would skip if it was to be, say, my third time watching it.

1) Truth- pivotal to finding proof to put Lionel in prison.
2) Apocalypse
3) Progeny- liked the additional story on his mother
4) Drone- Chloe: "What's your platform?" Clark: "I don't know- truth, justice... other stuff." :)
5) Visitor
6) Fragile
7) Spirit- lame. But it was a good high school moment. Lois has never looked better though. (Until last night, at least, when she was in that blue shirt at the end... way cute.)

Apocalypse wins, but it still could have been better. Compared to the rest of these episodes apocalypse really doesn't have much competition, so its not really saying much to say "It's the best out of these episodes"

Had this episode not had so many contradictory elements, it would have easily won my vote. Unfortunately, I am a fan of the series and when stuff happens that makes previous episodes (especially the ones I loved most) become pointless, I can no longer support such an episode. It was exciting to watch, but left a bad aftertaste because they screwed with the very history they had built.

Heck, they screwed with the story behind Krypton's destruction which was first introduced this very season in Kara.

While Spirit had some great moments (and possibly the greatest one liner ever uttered by Clark Kent in the history of Smallville!) and Truth had a wonderful premise and Allison rocked on as always, I had to vote for Apocalypse.

That episode was pure Smallville and so wondefully directed by Tom that there is no touching it.

I agree. Truth is one of my favourite episodes of Smallville. The serum, and the way it affected Chloe and her journalistic nature, carried such a threat for Clark that it made the whole episode truly suspenseful. I'm often surprised to hear people say that they don't like it, but to each their own of course.
I loved Apocalypse too, but I think the story has its flaws and a negative effect on the integrity of Smallville's own mythology.

Well considering he directed this episode i doubt it, if he hated them he was in a position to get rid of them. This would definitly be my favouite episode 18, it's actually one of my favourite episodes.

Yeah, but they didn't stay on him for more than a few seconds.....even in Whisper (a huge lost glasses opportunity mind you) they weren't on him consistently as he kept fiddling with them....
