Let me ask a delicate question without starting anything (I hope). SV has a strong shipping fanbase which sometimes influences fan reaction to the episode. Not knowing anyone's shipping preferences (if any). Is the joy expressed for this episode based on:
- Cool plot
- Clois connecting (after a fairly dry season)
- Clark being smart
- Cool SFx
- Action sequences

A combo? Like in Descent, where some of the best scenes were the intensity of the relationships but in Bizarro, the action was the driver. What is the driver for the episode and what was the best part?

Yes when Clark gets back from the AU he goes back in time to stop Brainiac from killing baby Kal-El. They just used the set for the FOS with different lighting for Krypton, although you also see a shot of the red sun and a blue planet orbiting it in space.

Clark picks up baby Kal-El (himself basically, that's weird lol) and puts him in the ship that sends him off to earth just before Krypton explodes.

This episode was just awesome all around because he's never been as Superman-y or even as reporter-y as he has been in this episode. By the end of the episode, Clark is actually doing the research and leg work himself. wow!

I've always had problems with that line. I tried to rationalize it by thinking it was Clark's first test, to see if he would turn away and run from his destiny if Jor-El made him believe that was the destiny. This is what he did at the end of season 2/beginning of season 3, which is maybe why Jor-El said that part of his test was over.

But even my own rationalization is kind of tenuous. I really wish they would better explain that some time. It would be great if they used this opportunity with Brainiac in order to do so.

Although John Schneider was my favourite actor in Smallville, I am kind of glad he was not in this episode. It was great without him being in it, and I'm glad to see Clark did not allow any residual guilt to affect him because he knew, even though Jonathan died, that reality is preferable to an alternative where everyone dies.

I don't think they had much of a choice. Krypton was anyway on the verge of blowing up. What could Clark and Kara have done that even Jor el couldn't do within the time that he spent on Krypton? Even Clark stated at the end of the episode that even trying to help prevent Krypton from blowing up could have serious and unwanted consequences for everyone else.

not to be nitpicky, but I doubt clark would have brought a pen and a pencil to write with, and even if you could display something inside the ship using technology, but my money is on the fact that neither Kara or Clark knew how to do that, and even if they could, like clark said, it could have some serious consequences for the future just by doing anything that could alter the future other than making sure that baby Clark made it safely to Earth

Exactly go through all that trouble and then don't even try and push your parents through the portal to earth I mean come on you where gonna risk Zor-el taking over earth just to have a clone of lara but you don't even attempt to save the real thing when you go back in time. Or at least discuse with them that you are their son from the future come to save yourself from brainiac. I mean If I am going back in time I am gonna make the trip worth my while maybe tell my parents to invest in bill gates Microsoft in the early 1980's or at the least play some lottery I know will win and split the winnings with a charity. Great now I am think how big of a bda clark is being and I haven't even seen the episode yet.

When Clark arrives on krypton it is moments away from exploding he doesnt have enough time to look for his parents, for all we know brainiac has them locked up on the other side of the planet and its not like Clark can superspeed and find them.

I feel guilty sometimes knowing what is going to happen on Thurs. night but it has never ruined my enjoyment of the show. It really adds to it because then you can just accept it for what it is and log on here to dissect the show afterwards. All the unique opinions from around the Smallville universe just allow me to look at different aspects of the show I might not have the first time around! Keep "spoiling" us everybody!

I don't know if anyone said it already or noticed it but, in the AU Lois gets arrested by the DDS (Department of Domestic Security) whereas in the real world, it's Chloe that's gonna be...

And look at Chloe's fiancé in the AU!! He looks so Superman-ish, and has physical similarities with Clark (face, t-shirt with the symbol, cop = crime fighter)...

I know some Chloisers are gonna be thrilled :D
So what are your thoughts about all of these "hints"??
