View Full Version : Maybe we need to look to the sky - where were they looking before?!

Chloe: We're just running out of ground to cover
Clark: (like it's an epiphany) Maybe we need to look to the sky... What about a satellite? Like Nasa Kallaber... Kara and Braniac when the left the Daily Planet there might be a satellite that picked up their trail!
Chloe: It is possible that the velocity of their flight created some kind of ionic displacement in the outer atmosphere. But hacking into government satellites is lightyears out of my league
Clark: You can do it
Chloe: maybe it's time for me to step up to the majors
Clark: Thanks Chloe. I wouldnt ask if it wasn't our last hope.
---
This exchange was almost as bad as the Kara Clark 'Energy' epiphany in Veritas. I have to many problems with it.
1. where they hell were they looking before. Chloe had been at it for days i'm assuming seeing as Jimmy seemed like he'd been stood up a lot... where WAS she looking? Seriously... Kara and Braniac flew into the sky and out of the atmosphere... was she looking underground for them?! It's simply ridiculous!
2. not that it would definately be a strong enough satellite, but why not ask Ollie if Queen industries Satellite had picked anything up before rushing straight in at the deep end?
3. I don't know about anyone else, but Chloe's sudden scientific outburst made me laugh like crazy. First because how on earth did those words ever come out of her mouth... second because it didn't make any sense to me... it was totally OOC and out of Smallville logic
4. she says the hacking is lightyears out of her league... but when she does it, did it seem that difficult to anyone? looked pretty damn easy to me, only took her a few minutes... hacking like that should take hours at least if not days, weeks, months!
5. Clark's little 'You can do it' wasn't an encouragement... it was just selfish... and i can't believe she just does it, even though there must be easier ways of getting the answers. I hated him when he said 'then why haven't WE found braniac yet.' I felt like yelling 'You mean why haven't YOU found him yet...' and then i wanted to yell nastier things as him too.
6. I keep thinking, if there was a weird black hole thing like that, surely astronomers would have reported it to the press... solar eclipses, meteors, etc can all be read about... yet no one seems to notice the big tear in space!!!!
sorry, but i just had to make a thread about this scene, because it literally makes me pause the tape to laugh every time :rotfl:

:rolleyes:It's obvious that a Lot of us think the same way. :D When Brainiac and Kara flew up and out into space, I half expected Clark to take off after them without having to think it through. I was almost holding my breath. Then when they simply shot off into space I figured that Clark could, at least, see that far. I thought (assumed) that he saw that they'd left this planet. The energy burst that blanketed that orbiting satellite was a definite clue as to what may have occurred.:\ Well, I thought that it would've been something that would've been RECORDED by that particular satellite's programming, and it should have been BIG NEWS in Scientic circles even if the general public had no knowledge of it happening. I expected it to be 'addressed' sooner, so I was confused when it was not.
;)AND, YES, I thought that the First person Clark and Chloe should have thought about contacting should have been Oliver Queen since they already know that he has 'satellites' and the financial resources to help uncover any out-of-the-ordinary astronomical anomalies. So... When Clark suggested that they should "...look to the skies", I too was wondering WTH***? Where havethey been looking then?
You made some Very good detailed points. What WERE the writers thinking about?
How many different writers do they have? Watching Smallville feels like watching Star Trek: TNG - and I love them both.

Most of the dialogue in this poor episode seemed ridiculous. I agree, I rolled my eyes at that line too.

yeah it was really kind of tiresome to see that. They were doing so well with continuity up until now. :(

My 'favorite' scene is the one with the appearing pages in the journal. The writing is just as good.:D

A few months ago you infiltrated the classified goverment firewall Star Hawk
Perhaps the goverment should upgrade to something better, such as the firewall that comes with Windows XP SP2:rotfl:

All about Clark

I think we are being too hard on Clark/Chloe on this one. Because usually what goes up must come down at some point. Just because they went into space doesn't mean they didn't come back down somewhere else on the planet. It would be considered abnormal to leave our planet to go to another planet, especially one that is no longer there. The only other person we know leaving the planet was Curtis Knox, c/o MM.
I think this is a case where we know that Braniac/Kara left Earth. The characters don't know this and it isn't a fact just because Braniac/Kara traveled upward.
If it's just the way it was phrased, I might agree, the dialogue has been a little weird as of late.
