I really don't know what to think about this current storyline. I think it's a ripoff of the first two Terminator movies where the T-800 and T-1000 go back in time and try to kill Sarah and John Connor respectively.

This arc is somewhat interesting, but in several ways seems like a copout to me. It seems like a way to justify the retcons. This brings several questions as well:

1. Was the Luthor crest changed due to the past being changed?

2. What about Lionel's supposed knowledge about the Traveler arriving on the day he did? Did Jor-El change the past and send the pre-meteor shower Lionel the knowledge of where Clark would land? If he did, then they certainly didn't show us the time-changing events and are forcing us to believe it.

3. Why doesn't the Jor-El of 1989 (or earlier during Krypton's peaceful years) come to Earth of 2008 the same way Brainiac went back? Kryptonians have ships that could handle the ride.

4. Why doesn't Brainiac go back to prevent the destruction of Zod's body and bring Zod to the present day Earth?

5. Why did Brainiac need Kara at all? Why not just leave without giving any hints to her or Clark and secretly kill Clark in the past? This makes me think that the Survival Zone is somehow involved and that the Krypton where Kara is on is not the true Krypton.

6. How does the time portal work exactly? Can people from the past even come to the present? This should be possible---it is going back in time that scientists in real life say would be impossible.

7. Is the portal linked specifically to the year 1989 or can someone time travel to any year?

8. This may seem obvious now that they introduced time portals, but was the legend of Naman and Sageeth written by one of Clark's ancestors who used the time portal to come to Earth and observe Clark and Lex without the knowledge of either of them? That's my best guess. Someone from 500 years ago (perhaps Kem-El) came to the present or maybe future day Earth and saw or found out that Clark came from Krypton and become enemies with Lex and then went back to their time (500 years ago) to Earth during his own time and created the cave paintings.

Keep in mind that the idea for time travel as a plot for movies and TV shows did not originate with the Terminator franchise nor is the idea of changing the past by killing someone either in many TV shows such as the Twilight zone, Ray Bradbury theater and the Outer limits this plot was explored many times long before the first Terminator film came along...

Yeah, I know. But I think the device of using it for this show is a cop-out and shows how bad the writing is. They know they screwed up so much that they can't do anything else but have characters go back in time and make events in earlier seasons meaningless plus have a supposed justification for it.

If Clark goes back to change things with Lex to prevent him from finding stuff that he found out in the last few episode, I will be super pissed. It would be the same lame Reckoning stunt pulled off again.

This plot is not new to Superman, Brainiac usually goes back in time to Smallville to kill pre-Superman Clark Kent, obviously that won't work because of the way the show has evolved away from the mythos.

Seems like you are bashing the time travel before it has finished occurring, hold off for another two episodes, then most likely you will have all the ammo you need to bash away.

Yeah, I'll hold off. But I'm concerned that they may pull off another Reckoning, this time with Lex's findings. I'm hoping Lex finds the Eradicator and not Clark's secret so no retcon of recent events from the past few episodes takes place. Jor-El isn't even in the FOS for some reason.
