View Full Version : How much longer will the "Hero" product placement continue?
Did it bother anyone else to continue to keep seeing stride show up in the episodes? Hero was done in bad taste with the whole gum-centered plot, and i know i remember seeing stride appear again in another episode besides sleeper as well. sure i understand that they must pay some good money to get it in the show, but must they do it so obviously? it just takes away from the plot for me and looks way tacky... I hope to not be seeing it anymore from here on out, cause the episodes coming up look too good to have that done to.

Oh, gosh, after this episode, Stride gum is the least of my problems with this show.
It has become one of my favorite characters since it now gets more screen time than Clark Kent. I think Jor-el is going to adopt it and train it to save the world, that is unless it falls in love with Lana Lang.

Are you kidding? Once Lex and Braniac go away, Stride Gum is scheduled to be the major villain through the end of Season 8.

Yeah it was just sitting out there all blatant-like between the cell phones on the table. It's just crazy! I really have nothing to say on this because it's ridiculous.

im not that bothered by it, as long as its not made into an episode like hero of course, because it provides money for the show and that means more special effects and so on :)
but why are you complaining about stride gum placement but havent complained about all the other logos placed in plain view, especially on the computers! i think it was this episode when lex's laptop was placed in clear camera shot saying "dell xps" on the back of it! and theyve been doing this throughout the series, not just a few episodes like stride.

The DELL thing I am more forgiving on because computers have to be used by the characters. The same thing is done in 24 with DELL. At least when the computers are on there it's for a reason. There was no reason for STRIDE gum to be on that table. Is that a standard practice for Chloe or Jimmy? I'm going to place my cell phone on the table and while I'm downloading illegal files I'll place my gum out there. HAHAHA

If it wasn't for the "Hero" thing it wouldn't matter, Toyota was in the lead for most annoying product placement, but I guess Stride decided that there was no such thing as bad publicity and wrote a check for the win. Who wants to bet that Chloe fills up her Yaris with Kryptonite laced gasoline in S8, then Clark and Flash have to team up to save Chloe. Or better yet, Clark has to fill up his Tundra with Kryptonite laced gas risking death to save Chloe.

I expect to see a logo on a computer, although in this show I would have thought Alienware would be more apt; what I object to is the placement of products in situations where they don't belong, i.e., in a newly opened fancy nightclub, with people in fancy dress, dancing a tango. Would you really take a pack of Stride into the club with you, and leave it on the table next to, say, a vodka martini or a champagne glass? Now that I think about it, it would have been really cool if Chloe had blown a bubble in Jimmy's face when he dipped her.:rotfl:

The real question is....Are the product placement working on all those who notice? Did it make you want stride gum? Has anyone tasted stride gum? and is it any good?

they don't even seel stride gum in England (as far as i know)
can you imagine how bad it is for me?
if the product placement does work, i'm left with an unquenchable craving after every episode
if it doesnt work, it makes me hate a product i have never even tasted

Maybe I am mistaken, isn't "Hero" the episode where Pete gets powers from a piece of Stride Gum, that was contaminated by Kryptonite in the basement of a Stride gum factory, later to be caught and tortured by Lex at a Stride gum party, only to scare Chloe in the end by popping another piece of Stride gum?

bought a pack of the blue flavor, not bad. it actually is a thick container, which is pretty cool and gives about two dozen pieces
