What's the reaon for the ongoing NoClarkVille?

Clark has been mostly abscent for the past few episodes, and was hardly in this one at all. What's the reason?

It was probably preparation seeing as how he would be the main focus in "Apocalypse". He did direct that episode and with all of the episodes he directs, he's not heavily featured in the one before it (including "Subterranean" since it was aired out of production order).

I totally agree, he should be Clark, however, he hasn't been in much of the past several episodes.
