Am I just imagining things? I had the volume on quite low but I swear, right after the first commercial break, the shot of LuthorCorp confusion post-Lionel fall, I heard the distinctive villainous strains from the music in Superman Returns that I've always personally dubbed Lex's. (I'm not sure if Luthor is the official name of that SR theme or not). Is it just me??? Or are they using movie music again?

I haven't watched SR enough but that would be so cool! Mark Snow often did a variation of the Superman Theme for Clark's heroic moment. Maybe whoever the music person is... is doing the same for Lex. Of all the different versions of Lex, MR Lex is most like Superman Returns Lex IMO.

I own SR and although am not very fond of it, I've watched it around 10 times. "Lex's theme" always stood out because it was the newest --it didn't sound anything like the Superman score from the old films. This music would sweep during dramatic dangerous, suspenseful, villainous moments.
I just rewatched the particular segment during tonight's ep (thanks to Youtube) with the volume full on and yes, though for only two strains, plays the very distinctive tune! :D I think it's deliberate! Which is so cool. :D
Would love to get a second opinion, though!

Yeah, exactly! It would be fitting since this is Lex's iconic turning-into-Lex-Luthor moment.
I think MR Lex is most like post-Crisis comics Lex. But for the movies, definitely SR. In the previous films, much as I enjoy Gene Hackman, the Lex music is comic relief.
