Did anyone else get a kick out of the device that Clark found in Lionel's safe? It looked like a flashlight or even a ViewMaster.

Haha. I wonder how he got that thing. I mean he may be an Emissary for Jor-El but I wasn't aware that enabled Lionel to recreate Kryptonian technology.

View masters don't look like that, but I get what you are trying to say, as they project images, well sort of it ;)

I really liked the VO done by John Glover. There was a wierd reverberation in his voice that reminded me EXACTLY of the way Jor-El (Marlon Brando) spoke to Clark in the first Superman Movie.

I did think it was funny actually.
He picked it up and I was like, "Oooo...What's that?" and then he starts twisting it...Building suspense.
Then it glows.
I was like, "Kryptonian flashlights...?"

Yeah the audio effect almost made Lionel sound more benevolent and sincere somehow.

I loved it overall. So glad Clark finally saw his true intent.

I hearby say we call it Lion-el's Cubelight. A cross between a Rubic's Cube and a flash light made by jor-el/lionel to give clark a message. We could even see more cubelights in the future if need be.

I'm glad that Lionel made that after learning Kryptonian in Zod.

I was genuinely moved, that Lionel found joy in the thought of being Clark's "vassal," C'mon farm boy you owe it to him to make this worth it!!!

Yeah. I thought it was funny and for a moment I expected a floating hologram of Lionel to appear, like Leia in Star Wars A New Hope. LOL! Ultimately it was a cool way to send a message. :D

Maybe it's something he had all along? Guess we'll never really know.

But still, it was cool - that scene also reminded me of Rosetta when Clark saw the screen of scrolling Kryptonian symbols.

As for the ViewMaster, I think they did make one like it which was intended to project images onto a screen or wall. It's been a while since I've seen one, though.

I thought of that too! Nice visual continuity.

Yes, I thought so too (was half expecting it to be Chris's voice, actually).

yeah i posted this in another thread ...but the writing on the kryptonaian flashlight actually said "For The Tarveler" it was mis-spelled and was meant to say For The Traveler...when clark read it he said it read , " for kal el in the event of my death" but it didnt'....i can decipher the actualy kryptonian based on a key that i found on a website it helps sometimes with finding clues to what is going on (the cave, various symbols in season 4) ...just thought yal might find that interesting
