So, earlier today, I watched the previous episode of smallville to get ready for todays episode. Near the end of the episode, Lionel pleads with chloe at the daily planet, and she is wearing one outfit. The scene after that one, she is wearing a different out fit. I remember this, b/c I was thinking "she took the time to go home to change, THEN meet clark at the hospital?"
that isn't the mistake. This is: Chloe was wearing the same outfit that she was when lionel was pleading with her, when she found out about lionels death/when lex took the key from her in this episode.
I understand they were trying to make it look like it was all in the same day, and thats fine and all, but they forgot about that scene with lana at the hospital.
this kind of irks me. what kind of crap show doesn't check for accuracies from the previous episode. not checking for accuracies from couple of seasons ago, whatever, but the previous episode? WHAT THE CRAP!
don't get me wrong, this was an amazing episode. it drove me crazy (in a good way) through out the entire thing! but that detail bugs me. It's a good thing Clark only has 2 outfits, matching outfits from scene to scene is never a problem.

I think the difference in outfits is caused by whatever changes they had to make once the Writer's Strike ended.
They were originally going to end S7 at "Veritas", but when they came back from the strike, they had to keep it going so that it wasn't the finale anymore.
That's what I'm choosing to go with, anyway. Makes the most sense to me.

but still! They could have chose to make this episdoe start the next day, instead of making it the same day, based on the changes they had to make. it still would have been just as good, just the next day!
this episode was written and filmed after they already knew the changes they would make to veritas. There is no excuse for this mistake except for their own laziness.

It's not as bad as the mistake in the episode Noir.
Lana's magical moving gunshot wound. Haha.
That was pretty bad. ;)

Agreed, I attribute it to having to re-edit Veritas to account of the new episodes. I could totally deal with that. I get irked by editing mistakes too. MJW, your name actually reminds me of the worst editing I've ever seen. Editing mistakes between 2 episodes filmed months apart is forgivable in my eyes, how about editing mistakes within one 5 minute scene in a movie though? The worst one I've ever seen was in the end of Spiderman (1). In the graveyard scene MJ puts her hand on Pete's face in a close up, but every time they did a cut away of the same scene, her hand would be at her side. Then every close up again it's on his face until he tells her he can't be anything more than a friend, that's when you finally see it drop away.
ARGHH!! It kills me everytime I've seen it. Talk about bad editing!

you know, I have seen spideman 1 at least 20 times, and I never noticed that. I will have to check that out later!
though, that mistake reminds me of another mistake in smallville from season 2, in "skinwalker". it's near the end of the episode. Every time they showed the front of Lex's face, he was wearing sunglasses, but when they showed him from the side/back, he wasn't wearing them.

Since it was supposed to be all one episode, the Lana hospital scene was supposed to come after Lionel's death. So... I'm okay with it.

really? if it had all been one episode, it would have been like 76 minutes long.

Maybe Chloe wanted to change back after she came back from the hospital with Clark. :\
I don't remember, but was Chloe wearing the blue/black outfit when they went to go to the crime scene or was she wearing something else underneath her trenchcoat?
really? if it had all been one episode, it would have been like 76 minutes long.
It probably would have been like 52 minutes or so because they added in a lot of stuff into "Descent" so that it could total up to a full episode. Or else Chloe would have had the key taken away from her and then changed before she went into the hospital with Clark.

If we're talking about mistakes, what about the "krypto flashlight" in Lionel's safe?

LoL! No kidding. I didn't notice the change in Chloe's clothes (that could also be because I haven't seen the episode in a few weeks), but I noticed that scene in Spiderman 1 and I can't help but point it out every time! It's supposed to be this really emotional and serious scene, and I end up laughing every time because her hand suddenly moves!

84 minutes
only if todays episode was 47 minutes long.
"Veritas" was only like 37 minutes long.

I noticed this mistake, too. Bad editing, but I suppose that the final scene with Lana would have looked out of place at the end of "Descent" and KK wasn't available to re-film it, so they had to use it for VERITAS and hope people wouldn't notice it.

also another one is in "Crimson" when Lois comes to give the Clark the mixed CD when she is dressed up all sexy and then Clark superspeeds to The Planet to tell Chole about it? i think he is wearing a white T shirt in that scene but then when he gets to the planet he is wearing his signature Blue T Shirt and Red Jacket.

Maybe he didn't wanna go to the Daily Planet looking all scruffy in his white shirt, so he threw on a jacket and a shirt on top of it. ;)

but he ran away from the farm dressed like that. its not like he came back, got dressed and then ran away again

another one from crimson, from that exact same scene, is Clark gives Lois the cd to put in the stereo, but when clark gets to the daily planet, he has it in his hand to show to chloe.
another misktake is Lois gets there minutes after clark does. and I doubt Lois has super-speed.

sort of the same idea but different
why do they need a "super" powered computer to refine the picture, programs that do stuff like that can be done on a normal home PC. There is no reason Jimmy couldn't have done it himself at work(assuming he is good with stuff like that) and they have the proper program on his machine(which i assume it being a newspaper they would have top of the line programs).

Agreed, I can do that in my humble 2 gb memory, Athlon processor PC :p

well, thats not exactly a mistake, since it was blatantly written in the script, you know? Dumb of the writters to not check out that info, but not really a mistake. :\

@ maryjane watson,
it's bugging me to since i saw descent, with chloe her clothes.
and, when chloe and lionel where talking, it was already EVENING.
At least, that was Lex saying to chloe right before he fired her.
He sayed something like "he visited you here tonight''
And in the hospitalscene with lana clark and chloe it was in the middle of the DAY, because you saw it through the window!
It's a bad mistake if you ask me.. and i was looking here in the forum for someone wo noticed it too!
