by now we've all read the spoiler page, the official description, seen the trailer & the DC. This is suposed to be the end of Lex's fall to the Dark Side where he finally becomes "the villain of the story!"

I won't get to see it till much later, but as everyone is watching I want people to think, did we really need Lex's whole redemption arc just to get back to this point?

Last season, I was so giddy, for the first time I actually enjoyed Lex on the show, he was a bad bad dude, in spite of whatever he told himself get to sleep at night (I know we had to Lex become evil over time, he wasn't born that way, I just never liked seeing it).

But then this season starts, and Lex is singing Amazing Grace, and my heart broke. But then here we are, and it just too long for me to get to this point.

We got some awesome moments with Lex wrestling his inner self, and a good job of fleshing out of the SV Universe but I just think there could've been better things to do with the character besides regress him one last time before pushing him over the edge.

the whole lex redemption thing at the beginning of the season was ONLY to show that lex was getting more evil, so he pretended to be good and said he had changed,
WHICH HE HAD NOT.

I knew he was lying, theres no way he could of changed, I was convinced that after lana, that broke what little man was left of him, and then after everything thats happened in his whole life just coming to a bottleneck and he finally gave in to his destiny. Its kinda sad.
no......

it is sad

Its been a great show. This is the first series I believe that has actually shown his fall into the darkness. I would like to see another series do better. And after Smallville. Give it about 10 years or so. I am sure there will be some kind of other Superman Series.

The apparent regression/redemption at the beginning of the season was necessary to show us that even if he had a chance to start all over again he would follow the same path. Lex-wise, this season has been a condensed version of the first 4-5 season with Lex going after Kara's secret instead of Clark's. But with everything that happened since the first episode he was bound to make the final turn to darkness and he does it in "Descent" where all the hatred he's been carrying since the first meteor shower is channelled against Lionel and Lex takes his place.
He's followed his father's steps (all the cloning experiments, murders, etc.) but going further into darkness and becoming the ultimate evil.

From the looks of it, this Luthor will "break the mold".

I say yes, we all know this needed 2 1/2 seasons (season 5 - now) of Clana, now we can move on to Lex being evil and do it in 5 episodes

(note post ment to be sarcastic)

i think this episode confirmed that Lex is pure evil now...killed little good Lex, killed his father, basically anything that was holding him to good memories...
