How would a billionaire open a box when he is missing one of the two required keys?
Well?

why not just call a locksmith to unlock it I am sure lex has money to get the best locksmiths in the world and pay them off like he does everyone else or have them killed instead of killing his own father but hey what do I know.

Okay, I gotta say, Amber, that this may be the funniest thread on the board that I've ever seen.

^ Thanks, but I'm really trying to make sense of it all, I mean what makes more sense? Smashing open a box or murdering your own father and then rushing around to hide the evidence?"

Um...well, yes, I suppose it would probably be, you know, more sensible for him to have tried to smash the box. On the other hand, it's not quite as evil. And it seems like there was just a whole bunch of pent-up rage inside the man and he really just wanted an excuse to chuck his dad out the window.
And, also, smashing things is hard! You...you have to find a hammer and EVERYTHING! :p

Umm I'm going to go with the first option, since that's what a normal billionaire would do. :)
Now Lex on the other hand, well he's a special case. :\

Honestly...we know Lex is a monster...so where finding a lock smith would make the most sense to us...it wouldnt surprise me if Lex was just looking for a reason to off his dad.

umm. . . murder my very own father for the key. duh! :p

The box in question is at a high security bank, c'mon guys.

My goodness...It is not a purolator package people!!!! It is not some little box that can be thrown against a wall and cracked open!! It is a highly secure safe deposit box in Zurich aquired by four multi-billionaires!!! I am quite sure they took every precaution to protect the box and I'm sure spared no expense to do so. Two keys have to be physically inserted and turned at the same time...(much like Richard Pryor in superman 3 when he needs access to a computer in Smallville). I am sure a bank manager and a plethora of security would be present at the time of opening. It is not simply a matter of getting Chloe to weasel her way into the bank security system and disable it, it is a matter of two people being present at the bank with two keys....simple. I don't think the bank would allow a locksmith access to the safe deposit box area. But what do I know though, I am no wall street tycoon!
I am quite sure that Lex has the resources to pull off an "Italian Job" at the bank. Months of planning and tons of money spent on thugs and equipment. But Lex chose the easier of the two choices...to kill his dad and steal his key.
And yes...to answer earlier questions in this thread...Lex can afford a locksmith, heck he could probably even clone one from the cord blood of the owner of "Surelock Homes!"
Word.

The key is needed not only to open the box, but to actually get to it! Like showing the bankers you have both keys, not only one. Lex's assistant said it quite clearly in "Veritas".

I gotta listen to that now, haha.
But, anyways, lol...I heard Lex brought a gun with him into LuthorCorp, so is that how the window's missing? He shoots at Lionel, but hits a window instead?
And if that were the case...how can he not hit his father, but he can fire two guns like a pro at Green Arrow? ("Siren")

Dude, the box is in a high security vault at a [Mod Edit] SWISS BANK. The employees there will die before they bow to Blackmail.
It is impossible to rob those guys. As Lex's assistant said, if they didn't bow to the Nazi's, Lex stands ZERO chance without the keys.
I wish that, when he off'd his daddy-o, ABBA's "Knowing me, Knowing you", was playing in the background. Now that would have been swell.

we didn't get enough info in the scenario. i need a few questions answered first, lol.
1. how many hugs has this billionaire had from his father.
2. has this billionaire ever been married, then divorced, and if so, has either party tried to kill the other.
3. has billionaire ever become enemies with his best friend, arguing over women, love from fathers, and accusations of crime?
----- Added 1 Minutes later -----
if not, then i'd say technical means. if so, i would put money on killing his father.

Lex would do it himself because he is no ordinary billionaire. He spends lots of money on making toys to open boxes just like the on in Zurich. Only this time, the thing in the box is going to open him. Open him up to true evil.

Good point, mighta been easier just to smash the box.
Though, maybe he was worried about damaging whatever was inside.

oh come on...smashing things isn't THAT hard. Hulk smash things all the time. if a brainless brute can do it, surely lex can figure it out.

He also had flashbacks that made him very pissed that Lionel had "ruined his life" Yeah, he wanted the key, but he clearly also wanted Lionel dead. I mean, an interrogation by his pal at the STRIDE GUM FACTORY (this capitalization required by my contract with Stride Gum...) would have been a more effective way of getting all the information he needed...

Did Lionel, sexual abuse Lex ?:(
If not, and his WORST offense was "ignoring" the kid...then Lionel DID a stellar job, on how kids were "raised" in the 70's. Such an unforgivable offense, ONLY punishable with "murdering" said "ignoring" parent.LOL
Great job SV !!!

How would a billionaire open a box when he is missing one of the two required keys?
Well?
Well, we've already seen the preview of the 2 keys in the box turning, so guess it will open with keys. I thought he needed the keys to open a bank deposit box, a bank which kept out all kinds of powerful people, but the previews show it differently.
Wonder which epidose?

Apple never falls far from the tree.
Unless an exploding planet causes the apple to, you know, go to another galaxy. Then it's pretty damn far from the tree.

Lex used his pistol to break the window. He had seen the episode of Mythbusters where they proved that you can chuck people at the windows in skyscrapers all you want but, you can't always break the glass. He was following safety protocols. Lionel could have gotten a concusion if Lex pushed him and he hit his head on the window and it acted like concrete.

I like how Spiderpunk actually made a really good point, and you guys just ignored him.
Seriously this isn't box that you can carry around. It's a safety deposit box. If Lex went in and said "I know I don't have the other key but I'll just take the box and be alright with that" the bank would laugh in his face. He has to be IN the room with BOTH keys or he won't even be allowed to LOOK at the box.

yeah i'm not sure killing my own father would be easier than pulling of an italian job... but then again he's totally paranoid ...and screwed over by everybody he has ever trusted so he's lost it

lol...yeah i still think it was the only way also though... combined with his complete frustration with being lied to and screwed over for so many years it was the only choice he perceived as possible....(probably shouldn't opened the locket first ) lol...at the point where he didn't check the locket i believe it to be premeditated

LOL that's so funny that it came down to Lex wanting to open a little box that pushed him over the edge (and Lionel out a window) after everything that happened between them.
Then again maybe Lionel shouldn't have spoiled him with the toys.. cars, helicopters, a mansion and his cool toy soldiers and all ..."But daddy I want this one!!!" :rotfl:

I'm sure he couldn't have just took the locket and -looked inside- before murdering his father for nothing. After all he's the younger man and none of their security was around (thanks to Lex, no doubt) he could have just taken it and -tried- to get the location of the key from Lionel.
'Course, I think Lionel would rather die than betray Clark. He kept his dignity in death.

The poll is very nicely put. Of course! I hadn't even thought of that angle. I suppose the writers ought to have made the murder more a function of Lex's one-betrayal-too-many, by his Dad: "You sacrificed me, for the Traveller."

How would a billionaire open a box???
1. Order his butler to do it.
2. Orchestrate a hostile take over of the current owner of the box.
3. Pay a small fortune for a duplicate of the box, then contract Ocean's 11 to pull a switcherooo.
4. Convince Jensen Ackles to open the box by telling him it contains 1,000 demon souls.
5. Or,....convince the Pentagon that Osama bin Laden is hiding in there.
JUST KIDDING!!!
