It looks kind of obvious that Lex was behind this, he didn't seem to trust her from the very beginning and wanted no one to know about the Veritas.

It was Edward Teague.

I am guessing this was either a) Edward Teague b) Lex's personal assasin c) Lionels henchmen which would make sence that he is trying to protect Clarks secret since Lionel seems to have planned out everything incase he died like the kryptonian project etc.

It would be awesome if it turned out to be Edward Teague.

It was Edward Teague.
Good call. Edward Teague is the only member of Veritas unaccounted for. As I recall from Season 5, he was still alive and there was no mention of him again until Season 7.
Of course, it could have been someone else. Maybe Lex had her offed because she knew to much...which would be pretty ironic since she knew what he wanted to know...and he may have given orders not expecting her to know anything of value to him.

I think it was Lex that ordered her dead. He had that creepy look when he realized how close she was getting, had feelings for him and now that he has both keys he no longer needed her and no one would know that he killed his father. Gina knew it was him and I don't think he likes to leave a trail behind.
I cn't wait till he hears her message on his cell.

Come to think of it though, it couldn't have been Lex coz she called him and said she knew who the traveller was. Lex couldn't have killed her then or would kill her after he knows who, unless Lex's dumb enough to believe wut Lionel said (Lionel claims Lex to be the traveller) and doesn't hesitated to kill his assistant.

Edward Teague - no reason for the character to suddenly pop in in Veritas, unless he had some other role to play.

I just assumed there was going to be a scene where Lex hears the message after she dies, and has a "oh crap" look on his face lol It could still happen in "Sleeper" ;)

It could very well be Edward Teague. It would make sense story wise for him to be the one to stop lex from opening the vault in Switzerland. I mean really...how would Clark explain being in Switzerland at the same time as lex just to stop him from opening the vault. I was actually kind of hoping for Clark to do a quick Pick Pocket thing on lex at the funeral and steal the key. At first i did think that Lex had her killed because she knew too much and that could still play out potentially. But i guess that puts any rumours of her being Mercy to rest now.

Although I haven't seen the episode, yet...from reading the live thread, it said she left a message. That doesn't mean he heard the message before ordering the hit.

I still stick to it being Lionel's henchman. Though edward teague is intriguing. though it was just a message she left, she said "Lex, it's Gina. I know who you're looking for" and than wham, shes dead. He's a horrible hitman for Lex to hire if he doesnt hear her leave a message for lex by name saying she has information he wants and than kill her. I think the fact she said she knew was what got her killed. It seemed more like he killed her after knowing she knew something, not just to kill her. otherwise i think she'd of been dead almost immediately after leaving veritas. So my vote is it's something Lionel put in place to keep the secret safe. So I vote Veritas related hit, with Lionel being the person who hired him.

braniac...if the world finds out about clark then he can't use him to take it over....bu that's not really my honest theory i'd go with teague or lex

just curious, but how would Edward or anyone trying to protect Clark know she was a threat? if Chloe and Clark didn't know she had discovered anything, how did anyone else?

when people started inquiring as to the box's functions they had to find they needed two keys at that point...atwhich point teague would be alarmed that people were lookinginto it...and since she was the one looking around she was the one killed for it....he might not know it was clark persay but he killed to protect the secret...so he would have been tracking her and heard her say she knows who it was...but yeah plotwise it is just as likely that lex had her knocked off ...those that says it doesn't fit...he just killed his dad he doesnt give a damn about her

lolol...yeah i just joined this forum this weekend in a reaction to this badass episode so i'm posting all over the place lol...but yeah he was already there i'm open to either possibility i'm not sure if the writers meant for this to be something we even contemplated seeing as how lex was talking to someone on the phone that wasn't her and then she died....i mean it could have been the Martian Manhunter..he's a shapshifter ..it could have been teague....it could have been another member of teh Swann group....lex is probably 60 percent more likely than the rest

new theory...I vote he was just some kind who just happened to for no reason at all be carrying around poison, randomly heard her telling somebody she knew something they wanted to know, and just completely randomly decided "hey, you know what? I'm going to use this poison."
Okay, maybe not...but you know, one of the upcoming episodes does distinctly say that lex and clark race to find a last member of veritas, so im still sticking with it being somebody with veritas connections. I don't think it COULDNT be Lex, however considering how many employees Lex goes through as it is, you kind of have to figure he has to be sick of losing hard working henchmen! Unless thats his way of firing people to high up on the payroll! in which case remind me not to aply at luthorcorp.

I keep thinking they said he was killed too! Maybe he ends up being alive. Or hell, maybe it's just someone else altogether.
