A new interview with James, it's quite fun to read. He talks of his experiences with Torchwood, returning from filming the live-action movie Dragonball, getting back to filming for Smallville, and a still-alive interest and enthusiasm in doing a Spike movie. Here's a short quote:

Moving on to Buffy, do you think the Spike movie will ever happen? Is it something you're still keen to do?
"I would love to. My face has held up a little better than I thought it would! One thing I told Joss [Whedon] is that I don't want to do the character when I'm so old that we have to explain that to the audience. I would like to film the character while he's still believably the same age. [...]"

This would be interesting and I love as much Spike as I can get...

But would a Spike alone be interesting without the Scooby gang? Without Buffy? And if they're in it then it wouldn't be a Spike movie, it'd be another Buffy movie.

The plan was always to have a movie about spike and illyria, with an appearance from willow, and possibly the villain would be gunn as a vampire. Certainly buffy and angel would not appear.

But now all the characters are in official, cannon comics, who knows.

It would be interesting but I am not sure how they would write themselves out of what is happening in the comics, as Whedon considers those cannon. I haven't read any of the comics, but it sounds a bit overwhelming with Los Angeles being in hell, and all that other unexpected stuff.

I hate those comics. I'm hoping a spike or giles movie will be made so they can overwrite the cannon established in the comics.

I can understand why. Some of it sounds interesting, and in other ways it sounds too off-the wall for me. Is it really true that Angel becoming human is only revealed in an internal monologue during one of the comics? You would think that event would involve more fanfare.

i'm dreading reading on when it comes to the comics from what i hear...

i just get so confused when i think i don't like something Joss Whedon made... but i just can't understand his vision here
