Did anyone else feel the slightest saddness for Lionel, trying to warn danger to Chloe, and she wouldnt listen. He has no one there for him, and with next weeks previews, it all seems sad. I'm not saying that he dosent deserve any of whats been given to him, but come on, any saddness...

I feel sad for him, but he does deserve it like you said. He's hurt so many people that if I was in Smallville, I'd lose most faith that he had something helpful to say too. And Chloe had nowhere else to draw a reference from. Lionel took 2 years of being helpful and just flipped it around by doing this whole cage thing and getting so tied in with Patricia Swann. That's all Chloe's seen and Lionel won't permeate her hard skull.

Hopefully Lois and Jimmy might give her the note or something...before he dies. :(

I really felt for Lionel in this episode. He is a great character and it shouldn't end this way for him.

Although....

Since this is a season of reversals and nobody believed in Lex when he first got to Smallville, largely because of Lionel...it actually seems a very fitting end for Lionel.

Man, I'm going to miss the MB.

Yeah, I felt a little sadness for Lionel for those reasons. He's pleading with someone to listen but his cryptic actions of the past have jaded those toward him. It's sad that at the end of his time (apparently), he's doing all he can to redeem himself and no one will allow it to happen.

Felt bad for Lionel during the whole epi.....poor man has a "frantic" thing going on, but NOBODY will listen......maybe he should go to Lois.;)
HOPE he puts that key, in "safe" keeping.

Nice! Hadn't looked at it like that until you wrote that but it's absolutely true. I hope it was intentional by tptb.

Full circle. The son becomes the father and vice versa.

I too shall miss the MB. He had a great run.

I agree----I did feel really sad 4 him----although, the full circle is cool----but that doesn't change the fact that when he goes, I am REALLY going to miss him! He was awesome---every time he was on camera. JG is phenomenal.

I felt bad for Lionel too. He was so desperately trying to get someone to listen. I've really liked Lionel since he's become good. I'll miss him.:(

If he didn't kidnap Clark then they would have listened to him.............His random mistake........

Why did he kidnap Clark anyway? I'm sure Clark would have been more than willing to talk to the girl.

I'm sure he meant it in a good way, to protect Clark from a threat he assumed was coming, but with all choices that one makes with assumptions and carelessness, theres bound to be an aftermath...

i do not feel sad for lionel.
He is a murderer and committed many other crimes and it is just he suffers.
Now John Glover is the best actor on the show, and you can see he is trying to reform.
You can see that lionel is trying to change his ways, but the darkness keeps seeping in.
Lionel was a terrible father and now lex is well, not a good guy either.
Lionel is the closest thing to a greek tragedy of a character trying to be reborn and reform but the past actions can never be washed off his hands.

I love the MB but he got what he deserved. He is a murderer for goodness sakes!!!!!

So sad. He's the best actor on the show, the show will feel empty without him. But it sure is the PERFECT set up for Lex to become the NEW MB.

I feel bad for Lionel. Here you have someone who has worked so hard at redeeming himself ... but let's face it. There can be only one MB Luthor, and it has to be Lex.

Yes, I felt bad for him. I HATE when in shows, books, movies, etc. where characters just won't listen to another. It frustrated me beyond end. I think that if someone previously evil can be reformed, then they deserve that shot.
