Tom Welling did an AMAZING job tonight. When he showed his pain when he first saw lana, and then at the end. ahhhh!
it was sooooooooo gooooooood.
the only way it could have been better is if he actually flew!

This was definitely not the best episode in months, imo. The acting was great, sure, even by KK who only had 3 lines! But that doesn't make an episode a great one...

It was a great episode, but so was "Traveler" so no I wouldn't say "best in months."

It was not a good episode at all. Quite boring I say!

I was so saddened and moved at the end, Clark, like the angel beside him, was there beside Lana and I could feel his pain, and Chloe's as well. One, if not the best scene of the episode.

Nope. I liked "Traveler" better.

Are you kidding me this was the 2nd worst episode for me. Just narrowly beating out Hero/Stride because it had Brainiac.

Siren, has been my favorite epi, so far.:)
She was cool, and "something" about a guy being comfortable in his own skin, and cool w/ saving the world *cough Ollie*......was AWESOME.....sorry, BUT CK hasn't done anything AWESOME recently.:(
Veritas..... the secret society, EVERYBODY knew about, wasn't all that impressive.:(

Oh Em Gee, you mean people have a DIFFERENT opinion than you? Shocker.
Veritas and Traveler are two of the best episodes of the season.

Yah, I like the symbolism with Clark and an angel statue when someone is in pain or at a funeral.
The Pilot of course, "Crush", "Resurrection", "Reckoning" and now this episode. The symbolism that this show has is just amazing, because there aren't that many shows out there that really does things that are as good as Smallville does.
I just wonder, if Lionel does come to his death in "Descent", if the infamous angel's presence will be there, or his funeral would be in Metropolis instead like Lex's in "Exile".
But, a quick question...in "Crusade" when Kal-El and Lois are in that hospital and Kal-El sees himself in the mirror, was the statue in "Resurrection" in the hospital too? I remember it was, but maybe it was not.

I've said some harsh things about the show being on for too long, but now that I've seen it drawing to a close in classy fashion, I hope rosenbaum is around quite a bit next season to really nail this series to perfection. great episode. clark coming to some final realizations about keeping close to those who hold his secret is not enough to deal with his powers and what his destiny will become means he will have to start being creative. I can't wait to see how he does it over the final 30 eps.

It was an ok episode to me, I liked the effects and stuff, but Clark refusing to fly? That is not right...

I don't see how he refused...for one, he got mad at Kara pushing and literally pushing Clark out of the barn, which only shows that only Clark should teach himself to fly.

blah....boring ! so many empty promises, yet again NOT fufilled by TPTB. Couldn't I sue them for Mental Angquish ?

Tonite's episode was very good. It had a little humor (Kara trying to teach Clark how to fly) and definitely sadness. It was very emotional at the end. A tear jerker at the end. It had powerful meaning at the end. I felt sorry for Lionel, how no one wanted to listen to him and luckily Jimmy and Lois found out that it Lex that killed Patricia Swann and not Lionel. I thought Chloe was being a little unfair towards Lionel. Chloe is usually the voice of reason and she usually gives someone a chance to explain themselves before judging.
Why didnt Lionel give the necklace to Chloe to talk some sense into Clark?
I just hope Lex doesnt get to the necklace (key) next week.

Hell yeah. One of the best episodes so far. Now we have to wait 3 whole weeks for "Descent" :(
It was good, Traveler was definitely better though.

Ohhhh, if only... Maybe we can form a mob, organize into a Veritas-ish group, and hunt down AlMiles? My suggestion? Tie them up and make them rewatch Smallville's entire run so far, drive them insane with the plot holes we point out, and make them write a script where Clark finally grows up and flies.

This was a very good episode. It focused a lot more on the Luthors than on Clark, which is understandable, but somewhat disappointing. What frustrated me more than anything was Lionel's hesitance. Yes, yes, I get it, someone has to listen...but if they aren't giving you the time of day, why don't you just spit it out?! I mean, just say it, save the grave danger part, and no seriously, blah, blah, blah. Usually Lionel just comes out and says what's on his mind. Why not now? Was this secret so big he couldn't muster the words in a timely fashion? I know I'm being harsh, the words very well may have been wasted because no one wanted to listen, but then, why didn't Lionel show the pictures of Patricia Swan's driver to Chloe too? She is the reporter. All in all, I'll say that I am so happy we'll be getting new episodes in April. "Veritas," as decent as it was, would have been a disappointing season ender. Not because of Lionel - no, that was just a minor issue I had with the episode - more so because of the lack of Clark in the episode. He was in very few scenes, and in the ones he did participate in, he was very passive. I hope there is a lot more of him in "Descent"

LoL, I don't know why people are so surprised that he didn't... I mean, isn't the rule/saying: "no tights, no flights?" Believe me, I'd love it if he could fly too. That's part of what makes him Superman, but he isn't Superman yet, and I'm much more interested in seeing him embrace his destiny before learning to fly... that's more mental than anything. His body is physically capable of defying gravity, or else Kal-El wouldn't have been able to do it in Season 4, plus he was floating in Season 1. No, once he fully accepts who he is and stops hesitating, he will be able to fly, IMO. (Oh yeah, it would also help if he got over his fear of heights, LoL, but that's a different story.)

I hear what you are saying, BUT when TPTB say this/that will happen.....ONE normally, expects things to play out that way.
smallvillerocks45
03-28-2008, 02:10 AM
Sure, but then again, it is TPTB... they tell you a season's going to show "everything you've wanted to see," and really you only get a taste. It would have been nice to at least see him jump out of the barn window, but then again, I don't like the idea of Clark falling flat on his face - sans the green Kryptonite.
The good news? We got Shelby!

BUT, why can't a show give their viewers, what they expect ? :(

Well, to keep us watching, I guess. I know I'm not going to be missing the next episode "Descent," that's for sure.

Again, he most likely didn't fly because they changed the episode and took parts out because it was no longer a finale. It was promoted originally as the flying episode when it WAS the finale and for some reason they didn't change the marketing.
I guess it's more fun to complain then think about it logically, though.

Honestly, I found little to complain about. Sure, I had my little venting session a page ago, but this episode was really good...

traveler was definitely better, but the combination of the last two eps have really started to write the show to it's final season. they can't really mess it up. it's gonna be lots of fun for the next year. God knows we've all earned a quality finish to this series. I'm having lots of fun with smallville again.

I can't say they can't mess it up. I've pointed out several things that don't jive in the thread titled Possible Retcon. I think they can have it make sense (albeit with a few conflicts with previous scenes from seasons 1-3), but they have to be very careful.

It was very good. The flying scene with kara and brainiac was stellar! I hate that they made clark look like a ground bound fool again though....
