I know in USA Today, they incorrectly mentioned tonight's episode was the season finale, so it might pull some more people into the episode.

I predict it will be about 4 million. With CW touting it as "Kara Teaches Clark to Fly", that should draw some past viewers who otherwise would have been on the sidelines.

Only people who looked at the online description or watch Space Channel will think he was going to fly. The majority of people would have just saw the trailer on the channel, and it never mentioned him flying.
Honestly I think all this flight talk was meant to be used as promotion for the episode when it was originally meant to be the finale, and he probably would have at least taken off in that case. I don't know why they *still* used the same promotion in some instances despite re-editing the episode.

reasons that it will do well
1. lots of advertising in tv guide and newspaper (some said it was the season finale)
2. good trailer
3. had an excellent episode before it leading it to veritas
4. casts' interviews
ClarkyBoy14

The boards seemed pretty busy last night. Sometimes that's a good indicator.
OTOH, the competition was still tough and the CW as a whole is down from last week.
I'm hoping for at least 3.5, though.

The CW duo Smallville (#5: 2.8/ 5) and the recently relocated Reaper (#5: 2.1/ 3), which is not an improvement from recent occupant Supernatural.

It is disappointing but two silver linings: viewership up 400K from last week and those 400K hopefully saw the trailer for Descent. That alone should help with better viewership numbers. Now, all we need is for SV to continue hyping and promoting this episode.
I realize it's renewed for next year but going in strong would keep tptb at CW from considering ending the show prematurely next season to make room for some new lame show they think is just the dog's nuts.

Always remember that the Live +7 ratings always have a boost. For example Fracture had 3.67 million, but the +7 had 4.18 million and Persona went from 3.43 million to 4.34 million which makes a huge difference. I'm sorry, but "Veritas" was not a great episode. It wasn't the worst episode ever, but you could just feel that huge chunks were missing. And nothing really happened. There was a lot of exposition, the introduction of some things that look like they might be interesting. But the episode itself was kinda flat and non-actiony.
Really, it felt like part one of a two-part episode. So I do think the stuff that was set up in "Veritas" will start to pay off in "Descent." But "Veritas" itself was kinda blah, and not the kind of ep that would wow and excite new or casual viewers.

Maybe what was going to be in it when the strike was going on, maybe stuff was reshot and it wound up not being in the shot, the so called cliffhanger. Nobody knew where the strike was going, and the episodes of Smallville were getting very thin and close to the end by the time it was resolved. Smallville was the only show to me to stretch out their episodes. Supernatural is in a pickle as they ran out of stuff, they may have maybe 5 shots for their final or maybe 3, I don't know.

I wasn't stating my opinion as fact. Just saying, it wasn't a great episode. If some people liked it, great and fantabulous, and I wouldn't say they were wrong for loving it. They just had a different reaction than me. To me, the episode was blah, and I'm not wrong for not loving it.
As for fan voting, I've seen polls where "Ageless" was voted one of the bestest episodes ever. So, you see where I'm going with that.
And I'm sure changes made due to the writer's strike are to blame for the choppiness and lack of excitement.

To each his/her own, I suppose. Yes, you could tell that it had been modified from the original season finale, mostly because we knew that in advance. However, tying in past season plot lines, incorporating continuity in actions and dialogue, and setting up the next episode are the finer points to which I was referring. And I'm equally sorry but that post never mentioned "great". It said that viewers were reminded of just how good SV can be.
How many new viewers begin watching a scripted drama in its seventh season and understand what dynamics exist and the cause-effect relationship that occurs in the actions of the characters? Very few.
I don't look at SV's purpose as being something to pull in new viewers. Instead, I see its purpose as keeping its core viewership and pulling back fans who might have lost interest last season or sometime this year. Over 5 million households watched SV twice this year. Good plots, good dialogue, good continuity and good acting pulls viewers back who may be following the season from afar.
