I thought he was watching Clark from a distance in order to be able to help him if necessary.
So, if Clark is attacked in his barn and imprisoned in a kryptonite cage, then this is not reason enough for the MM to help Clark :confused:

MMH was not needed in this instance. Chloe, Lana , Kara and to an extent Lionel were handling the situation.

Yeah. Plus, he's probably busy with other things. He can't watch over Clark forever. Maybe he was even in on the whole thing with Lionel; we know he was working with him during Season Six, at least.
