Mars Investigations

This episode made me think about Martha's place in the show now that she's gone.
Clark would obviously tell her of his distrust for Lionel, so would she continue to make contact with the Luthor? Or would she side solely with Clark? I'm pretty sure she'd try to dissuade Clark from thinking that he's evil, and that he's a lost cause.
Could it have been her that Lionel was talking to on the phone? He was saying "I disagree with you" and "Absolutely not"; maybe he had told her what he had done to Clark and she was arguing with him over whether it was right or not. This is doubtful, though, because I don't think that he would have hung up on her so abruptly when Chloe and Lana entered.

I'm pretty sure Lionel was talking to Patricia Swann on the phone that time.

I was also wondering, why nobody would bother about informing her.

Ya know I wish they would be more realistic about the martha situation-like bring her up once in awhile clark would still have contact or he could at least run down to see her i dont know it kinda makes me mad how they just act like she never existed (kinda like when pete left)

I think that Clark needs to solve these kind of problems by himself. He shouldn't cry to his mom and ask her for advice everything something happens.

Why not?? He's running to Chloe everytime for advice, he went to Lionel (well that's going to stop after "Traveler" I guess) - so why not asking his mother - at least on the phone - for some advice?
He always used to discuss problems with his parents, why should that stop, only because she moved to Washington. That's not "crying on her shoulders", that's what adults do: talking about their problems.
Clark mentioned her once in "Fierce" I guess, when he's in the kitchen with Lana and talking about the problems he has with his cousin - I'm not sure though if it was in "Fierce" but he mentioned her.
Why then not let him talk to her on the phone? Lionel did it a few times now, why not Clark?

Martha has pretty much stated her stand regarding Lionel back in Nemesis, although she believed he has made an effort to change, doesn't mean he should be trusted.
