Okay, no one else has mentioned this yet (and perhaps I'm just reading too much into it/overreacting), but after last week's episode where she learned that Lex is monitoring all of the computers, especially hers, at the Daily Planet why in god's name did she think it was a good idea to do her sleuthing there? Granted, she probably knew Lex wasn't at the office watching her every move at that precise moment, but still, she was looking up LuthorCorp stuff which would probably raise some flags and alert him (not to mention pique his curiosity on why she needed to know that information and look into it himself). And doesn't Lana still have her hi-tech computer room at the ISIS center? Wouldn't it have been wiser to do it there or even on her own laptop somewhere else? Unless using a LuthorCorp connected computer made it easier for her to get that information, I don't see why it was necessary for her to use that one; Chloe's smarter than that. Personally, I think the writer's feel they have to have at least one scene with the Daily Planet in every episode, and this was their way of filling their quota, despite how illogical it was.

Good point. Chloe is going to get fired in the next episode.

Yeah, they should have investigated somewhere else especially if Lex has access to all her inofmation. Mayber she found a way to take her computer off the network in offscreenville.

Well, either she's not that smart or she hasn't fully read "1984". Maybe she sticked to the summary..

Chloe's career as a reporter is finished.

And here's me thinking that Pete saved the day and put a virus on the Planets comp system that meant that Lex couldn't do that Big Brother stuff!

AND anyway why would Lex need to montior Chloes computer to know that she was hacking Luthor corp? Everytime anyone is remotely in danger she hacks Luthor corps computers. No matter how silly Lex can sometimes seem - he's clever enough to know that Clarks in danger therefore Chloe's hacking. It's a given.

He prob just saves the history of Chloe's comp in his comp now...

Anyway Chloes too interesting to Lex for him to fire her!

But I have a question... when will Lex thin to look on the Planets security tapes to see Clark use his powers?

You can't expect too much from him. He's never looked into the security tapes of his own mansion! He's fine with spying on Lana and Kara, especially when they get changed, but looking for clues on all the times he was miraculously saved in his own house? Nah!

He sounded very frustrated. Then Lex comes in and was like - What's the matter Pete, having problems hacking my system? Then Pete stopped.

The next thing we see - all of the computers inside of the newsroom had the scorpion picture - suggesting that Pete was successful. I didn't understand that.

I thought maybe Lex actually let the virus loose. It didn't make any sense.
Then Pete just walked away from Smallville without getting into trouble for hacking a companies network - and got busted in the act!

Did he or did he not release the virus?
It was bad writing.

No, the upload was successful (it's clearly shown) and it did destroy all the evidence gathered that far. But Lex surely had his tech guys remove the virus and restore his big brother surveillance systems to check on his employees after "Hero". If he didn't he's really dumb!

Good point. Chloe is going to get fired in the next episode.Hehehe. So clearly Chloe dies in Descent:

Lex: I warned you Chloe, that you were not to mess with me and the Planet IT department.

Chloe: Lex, I thought you were busy dealing with Kara and Patricia.

Lex: Well blondie, you were wrong. I told you not to mess with me. [pulls out big gun] "Bang"

Fade to black...To be continued....

snarkycole, makes a good point about chloe should not use computers at the Planet for investigating lex or lionel.

I also do not like that chloe works in the daily planet but lives in the Talon, makes no sense to me.

this thread is making me giggle

seems so obvious now... lex looks at surveilance all the time... he even got the surveillance from the bank in rogue... but he cant pull up one bit that shows clark speeding out or getting hurt lol

I had this same exact thought of the computers.

There's three scenarios. Let's explore them, shall we?

Option 1:

Chloe, after knowing Lex was monitoring the computers, decides to dig up info about LuthorCorp, not thinking looking into his company would trigger Lex's attention. She's doing this to protect Clark, who has the biggest secret of all she's desperate to keep. She then finds property with strange exterior walls and details built by Lionel. Gee, I suppose Lex wouldn't be curious about something so odd if it caught his eye and look further into it?

Wrong!

Option 2:

Lex, criminal mastermind, comes up with the excellent choice of monitoring Daily Planet computers. He does this to protect his name, but to also find out secrets from Chloe, etc. His excellent plan is foiled when Pete uploads a virus. When the system is clear again, Lex decides after one attempt to just abandon his excellent plan and "give up".

Wrong!

Option 3:

Silly Writing.
