Yea i noticed that too. Stupid writers always make dumb mistakes like that. Story wise u could say jimmy wasnt close enough to hear it what pete said fully.
AndiGirl
03-13-2008, 08:17 PM
But he laughed when Pete said it...so I assume he did hear.

Probably. Maybe he thinks that it's some kind of inside joke between Chloe and Pete like someone said in another thread.

It was a writer screw up, but it's not a big thing.
All they have to say, is they came up with a cool name for the meteor rock,
then Jimmy wouldn't even question it after that. ;)

yea u can either blame the writer or blame the director/staging people as i said in another thread for the placement of the actors during that scene.

in the next episode tptb write we should see chloe and jimmy together chloe should call the meteor rocks kryptonite and jimmy asks kryptonite. To wich chloe could say o yah you don't know when lex was posessed by that evil Zood causing black thursday and lionel was put in a trance calling the rocks kryptonite and saying they where the only way to stop lex. That way we get a real reason why jimmy doesn't find it odd that chloe and pete refer to meteor rocks as kryptonite but they also don't expose clark.
----- Added 6 Minutes later -----
and if jimmy still wants to know why chloe and pete didn't tell anyone else that the meteor rocks where called kryptonite chloe could say they didn't want to put lex and others at risk by revealign it thinking the information on aliens possesing people may cause people to stockpile the rocks and ma y cause them to gain abilities their bodies cannot handle.

I absolutely noticed that slip...too bad, maybe Jimmy heard it, but didn't really "hear" it, if you know what I mean....

ha I thought that was funny. I don't think Jimmy heard him, and if he did I doubt Jimmy will understand the term. I mean maybe if he said kryptonite rock lol

Pete has ALWAYS been afraid of slipping up and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time about Clark's secret. Now it's finally happpened!!!!!!!! I think Pete's little slip-up about "kryptonite" may play a part in future trouble that Jimmy gets into. That little slip may be a plant for Traveler, Veritas or other up-coming episodes.

I noticed this slip up too! All I could think about was how nonchalantly Jimmy let it slide... he literally laughed as though he were in on the joke, but in reality, he shouldn't have the slightest clue about what kryptonite is.
It was quick, and in the long run probably won't have a lasting effect, but it was definitely an awkward moment, IMO.

Yeah sure, cause in order to cover up the word "kryptonite", you have to reveal that aliens not only exist and are ruled by an evil dictator, but have walked among us and have the ability to possess people. Good idea! Jimmy won't wonder why Chloe didn't publish the story. That's right, it was to protect Lex.
That makes a lot of sense.

Pete said 'Don't worry, it's kryptonite free' right in front of Jimmy! I remember the line, but I don't remember Jimmy being there. That's funny - especially how the entire episode revolved around "old-times" and how Pete now understands how important it is to keep Clark's secret.

Since Strident gum most likely paid alot of money to show their package Pete used, and had commercials during the show, it was a joke like saying - Don't worry, it's "sugar" free. Or something funky like that.

Then how would you explain that kryptonite is meteor rocks without exposing clark's secret to jimmy? Oh and the rest of metropolis and probably the world knows lex was posessed by someone who somehow gave him powers during dark thursday since LEXZOD terorized the whole city and hurt lana I mean I am sure Lex said sdomething about Zod possesing him and doing alot of evil while explaining he wasn't himself on dark thursday. And it would be better to expose to jimmy that evil aliens have invaded in the past and chloe knows how to stop them then it would be to reveal clark's secret. Yah you don't want to whole world to know lex was possesed or you get people caring kryptonite around like crazy and endagering themselves but you also have to come up with a reasonable explantion to explain why you refer to the rocks as kryptonite.
----- Added 5 Minutes later -----
Though I guess now that I think about it that chloe could say that's her joke between her and pete becasue they discovered that the meteor rocks cantaion huge traces of the earth element krypton. That would be a whole lot easier then trying to explain that you lionel luthor was possed by a good dead alien and told them to use kryptonite/meteor rocks on lex when lex was posessed since then you'd have to explain why you didn't print that story. It's a whole lot easier to explai n not priniting the chemical makeup of the meteor rocks since that would be incredibly boring.

No way it was accidental IMO.
Do you really think every actor, Al Miles, cameramen, production crew, director, and every other writer wouldn't notice it??? Not likely
All about Clark

Personally, I think it was just the director allowed Jimmy to come onto the scene too early.
And his chuckle was one where he was joining in even though he didn't understand what was being said. It would have been hilarious if he asked Chloe what Pete was talking about. And he just might at some point, although Chloelicious was more on his mind.
It's funny that without the air of mystery with Kara, that that parring fell flat.

Pete's back was turned to Jimmy, and come on, Clark and Chloe talk about Krypton, Brainiac, Zoners, Bizarro, and everything else superhuman and extraterrestrial RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE

I also noticed that. After all the talk about having to watch what he says and keeping Clark's secret, he just blurts it out in front of Jimmy. I'm guessing that we can take it as a mistake and change it in our heads from "kryptonite" to "meteor"

Yeah, my eyes bugged out of my head a little.
I guess it was either bad scripting or bad blocking/staging.
But then again, Jimmy is kind of . . . oblivious sometimes (which is part of what makes him soooo funny and enjoyable).
Can we ever forget back in Season 6:
(to Chloe): "Do you know what this means??? Lex . . . is working with the Egyptians." :D

One of the best lines of the series for sure, that was too funny, the look Chloe gave him after he said that made it even better. Jimmy is awesome.

*dies*
It might not seem like a big deal, but it really is. They have gotten so sloppy with the storyline, and now they're even sloppy with their favorite storyline: and that is the keeping of Clark's secret.

Anyone remember the writer's strike? This was one of the scripts turned in by the strike deadline. In the official strike rules, writers who had finished scripts by the deadline were told to give a copy of the script to the writer's guild so that they could verify if any re-writing had been done on them. If any member of the writer's guild changed the script, they would have been thrown out of the guild.

Yeah, characters often get this strange habit of selective hearing. It's really quite convenient.

Noticed it immediately, and yep Pete said "Kryptonite." I figure if JO was listening they could pass it off as some weird ingredient that has nothing to do with Clark, the Kwatchi Caves, Lex, Kara, the symbols in the barn, Milton Fine, Virgil Swan, space ships, the Phantom Zone, the evil folks from the Kryptonian ship, the Meteor Showers...heck, this is SV, he'll believe that, right?????

I think they need to hire one of their fans to review their episodes for slip-ups...we obiously paid more attention than they did. I think they could benefit a lot...

thats exactly why it does matter... jimmy wouldnt know why pete called it kryptonite, cause he doesnt know bout krypton... so if he said 'what's kryptonite' they would have a rough time explaining themselves
i noticed it, and it bugged the crap out of me. pretty sure it was bad staging, cause seemed like Jimmy wasn't supposed to be in range of their conversation

Yeah, I noticed that and immediately figured Jimmy would turn to Chloe and say "what's Kryptonite?" Would have been funny if he did.
This seems to happen often in the DP--characters talk about "secret" stuff out loud with people within hearing distance but those people don't seem to hear what's being said. As I said in another thread, if some of these reporters just eavesdropped a little harder they would have have one heck of a story to write!
